An essential part of Mammut's airbag systems.
In order for your Mammut Protection Airbag System, RAS (Removable Airbag System), and older Snowpulse packs to work, you'll need this Refillable Airbag System Cartridge to supply compressed air to the automatically inflating avalanche safety system. Once you've filled this empty cartridge to 3000PSI and installed it into your airbag system, it's ready to deploy the buoyant airbag that help you remain on the surface of an avalanche. For durability, a valve protector has been added, and filling pressure can be controlled via an integrated pressure gauge. The cartridge must be filled after each use at an authorized refill center, but hopefully you don't need to use it at all.

I just ordered the cartridge however where do I get it filled and how?
Hi, thank you for your question.
A local dealer of airbag packs will be a great place to check. Depending on where you are located, ski guide places also may be able to fill it.
If you are near any Scuba/Dive shops, they will most likely be able to help you out. Giving them a call will be your best bet as they will either know exactly how to get you set up or have no idea what your talking about. As Kayla mentioned above, your local shop will be a great resource and you should look to them for questions specific to your local area.
my local scuba shop was unable to fill it (and they seemed to have every possible adapter in their shop), but a paintball store filled it easily for free.

Traveling overseas w canister, specifically to French Alps. Assuming I travel with it empty, will i be able to refill it over there? I saw something on the Jones website about refillable being only good for North America. ??
There's a whole pile of Mammut shops around France where I've seen people getting these filled, so I'd expect it'd be fine :-)
I'd travel with it empty, yep.
Got my pack in a few days ago and I tested it out. works great and the canister is really easy to reset. Meaningchangepuncture disk and washer. This canister does come with 3 disks and washers so no need to buy em. Good stuff
Any reason you can't fill these with N2...
Any reason you can't fill these with N2 to gain the temperature & elevation benefits of pure nitrogen? Seems like a canister is a canister, no?
Well, I got an answer from Mammut:
"The risk is that the cartridge is dot approved for compressed dry air only. I just talked to our product manager about this.
Anecdotally, Nitrogen will function, as well as many other gasses but we cannot recommend that folks fill it with gasses other than what the cartridge is approved for. Also, because of how our system was designed, there is no need to bother with nitrogen, as it will function using compressed at any temperature or elevation.
Our Cartridges, filled with air and reading green on the gauge at room temperature, will operate fine in any temperature or altitude that even the most adventurous mountaineers would encounter. They have been designed as such and our cartridges are at a very high pressure, so that they will operate whether at room temperature, -40, and any elevation from below sea level, all the way up to the highest peaks."
