Why We Like The Haldigrat HS Pant

Mammut made the Men's Haldigrat HS Pant for freeriding power, backcountry touring, and even mountaineering. Its DryTechnology Pro membrane boasts extreme waterproof, breathable ratings for solid protection from snow and plenty of breathability for strenuous ascents. Large zippers on each side provide sufficient ventilation for steep skin tracks and springtime mountaineering endeavors. The bib is removable for proper coverage whether you're riding spring corn or winter powder. Mammut reinforced the seam edges with Dyneema for reliable durability against crampons and ski edges. One of the zippered pockets is sized for Mammut's Barryvox beacon.

  • Hardshell pant made for freeriding, mountaineering, and touring
  • DryTechnology Pro boasts extreme waterproof, breathable ratings
  • Ventilation zippers on the sides amplify airflow
  • Removable elastic bib provides versatile coverage for any snow
  • Dyneema-reinforced seam edges protect against ski edges and crampons
  • Barryvox-compatible beacon pocket with loop inside

Great but the fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: 28/Reg

Great pants overall, nice having a pocket for the transceiver rather than wearing an extra holster, and great build quality.

The pants fit fairly well for someone that is on the bottom end of the fit scale but the fit isn't as great as I would have expected from a European brand. I had to really crank the shoulder straps and could barely get them tight enough, and the fit around the waist/torso is only OK.

Great Pant

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 32

Great fit, lots of functionality. Waterproof rating is legit

Initial Impressions

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 34 (returned 32)

Only was able to use it once this season before the ski season was cut short; however, my initial impressions are two thumbs up. The material seemed better compared to other bibs I looked. The upper portion of the bib is a nice flexible material that allows you to freely move around and doesnt bunch up like other bibs when you sit down. I agree with the other commenter that the teal color is more of a cool blue and looks good. I will say that if you have an athletic build with wider chest, then you should probably size up. I usually wear a 32 waist and while my waist was just right, but I had trouble zipping the upper portion and was very tight when I did. I returned it for the 34 and it was perfect, the adjustable straps on the side tucked in the waist, so no problem on the waist. In colder weather make sure to wear extra layers as this is only a shell. Hope this helps others.

What's the insulation like?

A bib and a pant in one.

Okay have not used these outside yet but pretty much have tried them on three times and can't wait to ski in these. The zip off bib is a killer design and I think I'll wear it riding chairlifts but take it off to tour in. great adjustable side straps for perfect fit with any and all layers. Leg pockets are perfect for a beacon and fit is spot on. a bit roomier than my old Mammut soft shell pants which is good. fabric is beefy and stretches like the jacket. Wing Teal color is not teal but a cool blue that goes with most colors well.

Chris thanks for your very helpful and detailed reviews. I want to ask for advice as I wish to buy both the Haldigrat (blazing) jacket and (wing teal) pants. Do those colours match? On their website Mammut show pictures of a person who supposedly wears that combination but I suspect the pants are a different blue, lighter. Can you comment on that?

How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
