Love these softshells

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 6/tall

I bought these in the 6/Tall size as I am a 5'11 and they fit perfectly. I have used them on a few alpine climbs and they have performed better than I expected. They haven't suffered any damage despite my rubbing them on rough granite and glissading down icy snow. They kept me warm on chilly days and were surprisingly comfortable in 80 degree weather. The vents on the legs are very nice to have for the warmer days. I love these, totally recommend.

Fit like my Favorite Jeans

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 8

These pants are awesome! I bought these for spring CA snowboarding because I needed a lighter weight pant. These will work perfectly. They are water resistant in rain. They're a little low-riding, but not too low. They fit just like a pair of jeans--I mean like a $200 pair of designer jeans. No gaps in the waist, and fit in all the right places. In fact, they are styled like jeans with the rear pockets and slight flair. They're really flattering, and slim my bubble butt. They're not restrictive, and would be perfect worn rock or ice climbing. Wear them hiking on cool days. Wear them camping. Sleep in them camping. Walk the dog in the rain. The great part is, you can wear them straight to dinner after an active day. I will even wear these when I follow the BF around the golf course on colder days, because they're just that versitile. I agree with the reviewer who said these could be worn 10 mos. out of the year. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you're on the fence about these. And for size reference, I wear a 6 or size 27 in jeans, and the 8 fits like a 6 (Mammut runs small).

Love, love, love!

I usually have a hard time with the fit of hiking/climbing pants. These, on the other hand, are perfect! I definitely wouldn't say these pants are low rise, which is a typical problem with active pants for me. They have plenty of coverage in the back, and with the belt I've never had a problem with them shimmying down, even while I'm climbing. The leg opening is not too baggy either. Nice slim/straight leg.

I like that these are made with a heavier fabric. I've ripped the knees in almost all my other pants from climbing, so I'm hoping these will last a bit longer. I've mostly used these for indoor climbing and winter adventures, so far. Not sure how they will feel in the summer, but I see myself wearing these pants at least 10 months out of the year (if not all year round for alpine adventures). Great versatile pants that I hope will serve me well!

Note: I'm typically between sizes and sized up to get the best fit.

Love the low rise!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I personally can only wear low rise pants and have a very hard time finding any that fit right. I have a short torso and long legs (it sounds goofier than I look!) and EVERYTHING I find in the stores is either above my belly button at my waist, not touching the floor when I put them on (Long legs are more of a curse than an asset like models would make you believe), or both. These are the perfect size in both areas!

Low rise...Really?

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size

I've been looking for a hiking pant for cooler temps with vents on the thighs forever. Was really excited when I saw these pants so I ordered a pair. I loved the fabric but when I tried them on, boy was I disappointed. Who in their right mind would make a pant for colder temps with such a low rise!! You can only imagine how ridiculous they look with base layer bottoms underneath and 3" of the base layer sticks out above the waist band. Mammut you make great clothing but you missed it with these pants. Sorry I'm returning them.

Comfortable, highly functional

These pants have top-notch material and construction.
The casual fit and slight strechiness of the pants makes them very functional. I've used them for rock climbing and hiking in cool weather, and find them very comfortable for both - and abrasion resistant. Two zip-pockets in the front keep your items secure; zip vents on the legs cool you off if you don't have time to change into shorts. These pants are exactly what I was looking for: durable, flexible pants for cool-weather rock climbing.
