Louis Garneau Nova Women's Vest
Louis GarneauNova Women's Vest

Invaluable, packable weather protection.

We're fairly certain that the peace of mind you'll get from having the Louis Garneau Nova Women's Vest along with you on your training rides is worth its reasonable price. Think of a time when it was so nice outside you didn't feel the need to check the weather report before you left -- and then the sky opened up an hour or so into your out-and-back spin. Or, recall a ride where you were feeling so good that you couldn't resist staying out past sundown, and then had to face a chilly, windy ride home that made you wish you hadn't been so ambitious. At times like these, a good vest is invaluable.

The front of the Nova Vest is made of Diamond Air fabric, a polyester weave that's windproof, resistant to tearing, and treated with a water-repellent finish. It's also breathable, but you'll get most of your ventilation through the Light Mesh AirDry and Micromesh fabrics that make up the back of the vest. The Nova Vest has two back pockets so you don't have to dig for your stowed gear, and a zipper garage keeps the zipper tucked away nicely. Reflective piping on the back as well as reflective front and back logos ensure that you'll be seen as you push on through those came-from-nowhere storms. The Louis Garneau Nova Women's Vest comes in sizes X-Small through XX-Large and in two color options: Black/white and Bright yellow.

Does run small

  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XXL

Received this cycling vest and purchased it due to increased visibility for road riding. While I'm normally a Large in Women's apparel, I trusted others that reviewed this vest and ordered an XXL. It fits PERFECTLY and thanks Backcountry for offering this nice vest.

Too large for a small bust

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

I bought a large, because I have a long torso. However, I am slender with a small bust, so this vest had too much fabric for me in the front. The zipper bowed out when I leaned over to simulate my posture on the bike. The materials are fine. I like the stretchy black fabric under the arm cutouts in the front.

Louis Garneau Nova Vest - Women's

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small

Wish it had side pockets - the back pockets are inconvenient & because they are mesh, my keys can easily break through them so I have to carry them elsewhere. Usually i wear a medium but bought a large because of review comments. The L fits my medium frame so I think this vests runs small.

So disappointed

I read the reviews. Runs small. I'm a 38B chest so I figured an XL would work. Size chart says 38 chest is a Large. Can't even breath with this vest on. Not even sure if the XXL will fit and I'm not going to find out. Already paid over $12 in shipping.

    Visible & Comfortable

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large

Bought this vest as a gift, and while it is marketed to be for cycling it is great for road running as well. This vest is certainly visible day or night which is really why I purchased it. The weight of the vest is great over medium to light layers and does not add a lot of extra weight. The high collar helps to add protection against the wind, and the mesh keeps you cool when running.
Due to other reviews I did decide to go with the Large and it fits great. I would normally purchase a S or M in any running gear, but decided to go with the Large. I was happy I did as it fits snugly without be constrictive. You could even go two sizes up, but I would be cautious of the torso length if you do.

I'm strangely fond of this vest.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large

Yep, it runs a bit on the small side. I'm 5'4", about 36D, and I bought a large. It fits comfortably over a serious sports bra (I think I'd have more trouble without that sort of compression) and a base layer, and I've also been known to add another lightweight layer underneath without any issues. Runs maybe a touch longer than I'd like for my height, but I'm not in this for fashion.

As for function, it does the job. Blocks the wind nicely in the front and dumps heat out the back like a champ. Consider this a wind layer only, and if you need more warmth, dress accordingly. The nice thing about that is that I can wear it through a broad range of conditions. I have the bright yellow, and it's truly obnoxious, which is a good thing when you're trying not to get killed out there. ;-)

    runs SMALL

This vest runs extremely small! I had to return it due to the size. I even tried an XL and to me it was like a Medium. The vest is VERY light weight, quality seems nice .
