LezyneMicro Drive Rear Light

DRL for JRA.

If automotive, daytime running lights (DRL) were just a gimmick, they wouldn't have lasted a decade. In fact DRLs are a federal requirement because they've been proven to reduce accidents. So, with that being said, we weren't surprised to see that Lezyne's Micro Drive Rear Light features a daytime flash mode that kicks out 70 lumens for added safety during the day.

However, that's not the extent of Micro Drive's features. Lezyne gave it a lightweight and durable, CNC machined aluminium body with side visibility ports and beam optimizing MOR Optics. An Intelligent Power Indicator button also allows you to easily check power reserves at any time. And when the juice is low, you can simply top the Micro Drive with its integrated USB stick for a cable-free recharging of the built in Li-ion battery.

The Micro Drive uses a tool-free, snap-fit composite mounting system with a silicone strap. This system fits a wide range of seat post diameters, helmets, and bags. The light features a maximum nighttime lumen output of 30 lumens and a minimum of 5 lumens. There are two flash settings, one pulse, a low setting, and a solid stream. The light takes around 3 hours to achieve full recharge, and it has an operational charge ranging between 5 and 16 hours, depending on your settings.

The Lezyne Micro Drive Rear Light is available in one size and in the colors Black/hi gloss and Polished/hi gloss.

Very bright!

So far so god. Battery lasts long, easy to use. When you turn it back on, it remembers your last setting. Very easy to set on the seat post. Just be gentle with the rubber strap. Oh and the led, yes it's very bright, great for daylight use.

easy, versatile, powerful

I'm obsessed with having daytime lights. 2 1/2 hours with this light. I have two of them, keep a spare in my caddy. Thinking about getting another one, haven't yet found a better light for daytime. Easy to switch on and off, 2 daytimes modes, and 5 nighttime modes. Easy to switch to different bikes in seconds. Charges quickly on USB. Needless to say it's brilliant at night. Been using them for over a year. Have even received complements from motorists.

I got this one as a pair with the Macro headlight.
-IT FELL OFF. I had it on at night when I left my house, 30 minutes later when I arrived at a friends it was gone. I commute with this daily and haven't had any issues, however it somehow came undone and fell off.
-Rear cap would pop off when I was taking it out of the mount. The threads are really small and don't hold onto the body that well. If careful, this is fine.
+I liked that I could transfer it between bicycles with ease.
+Charge lasted long enough.

As Presented

We ride a road tandem and have found this light to be accurately presented by the writeup. I was initially skeptical about mounting but the rubber strap is perhaps made for seatpost but has also mounted securely and easily to the rack.

Seems to last forever on flash mode, which is where we use it for increased visibility on the road during daylight. We are happy with the purchase and recommend it highly.

Small, convenient, well built.

About says it all doesn't it?

The light is about the size of a cigarette light in your car (if your car still has one of those). The multiple light modes are handy and all seem to work very well. The light mounted easily to my seat post under my saddle bag and has stayed secure even on poorly maintained city roads.

The built in male USB plug makes charging a breeze - no need to remember where you put the cable. Charging port is well protected when the rear cap is on.
