Think of Lazer's Blade+ MIPS helmet like the Z1's little brother, packing many of the same features while coming in at half the price. You'll get a helmet that looks great, is lightweight, and vents well all while saving some cash for some race entries. Its slick, In-Molded, polycarbonate profile and Advanced Rollsys retention system provide an excellent fit with great adjustability. The retention system is ponytail-friendly and is top-mounted making it easy to reach on the fly while offering horizontal and vertical adjustments. The Blade has a full complement of 22 large vents keeping you cool on those extended summer climbs. Whereas most helmet manufactures leave the EPS foam bare on the underside of the helmet, one unique feature of the Blade+ is its bottom shell finishing providing a finished look and additional impact protection. Inside, the low friction MIPS layer can provide additional protection against certain rotational impacts.

Broke after ~10 months of normal use
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I really liked this helmet as it fit well and seemed to breathe well (although it was a little heavy and bulky), but I do not recommend it. The plastic 'harness' on the inside of the helmet (which you use to adjust the fit so the helmet is secure on your head) broke for me under normal use after ~10 months (see photo). I'm afraid this is a design flaw, as it's an extremely skinny piece of plastic that seems easy to break. Once this piece breaks, the helmet can no longer be tightened, so it no longer can properly fit on your head and provide safety.

Lazer Blade - Great helmet
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
A friend was recently hit by a car and he said his MIPS saved him, so I had to go upgrade my helmet. This is a GREAT helmet. I wasn't willing to pay for the uber high end Lazer, and glad I didn't. This is really comfortable and I hope I never have to put it to the test. Very comfortable.

Sizing
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I didn't know what size to order so I order a medium and large My head size is 59cm Medium fit too tight and it looks too small for my head, looks like I am wearing a kids helmet. Large is just a little big but fits better and it looks perfect

Crash Tested
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
This is the 2nd helmet of this style I've purchased this year. The 1st one was ruined in a collision with a vehicle, The helmet did its job well when it counted. My head hit the road hard enough to crack and permanently deform the styrofoam insert and rumple the outer shell. Other than a couple of very minor lacerations from the edges of the MIP insert (probably because my head is shaved bald) no other injuries to my head. Satisfied enough to purchase another! Looks good, fits well and worked as advertised. A more than reasonable price too!
