Coolest badass sweater hoodie/jac

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: L

This thing rocks one of the best sweaters I’ve ever owned, it’s the warmest thing in the world fits perfect 6 foot 165 pound size large. I washed it once shrunk a little bit fits perfect and it’s exactly what I was looking for to use for going out to grab a beer or hanging around anything you want. It’s warm! I live in negative temps and you can wear a t-shirt underneath this thing and be toasty.

odd fit

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: m

The quality seemed fine, but the fit was strange and unflattering. I'm a slim build and so the sleeve length was too short and the belly sort of stuck out (due to the number of layers for pockets) making me look like I had a beer belly. I guess if you're barrel-chested and have stubby arms it might be a more flattering fit for you.

A lot of high performance outdoor brands (Spyder, North Face) run a touch small, I'd put this item in the same category.

    Very warm and looks/fits great

    Terrible fit

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: XL

In 35 years, I have never donned a garment with a worse fit than this one. It looks so cool in the picture but if you care about fit and cut this will disappoint. It's as if they took a bunch of parts from different sized shirts and put them together. What people said about it fealing like there were socks in the armpits is totally accurate. And it even looks like there are socks in there. Clearly, the pattern to this was not designed for the human body. They must not have labor laws in Nepal where it is made because it's as if it were made by 6 year olds.

    Other reviews are very accurate

    • Fit: Runs small

This piece of clothing offers exactly what you would expect from a wool coat with a fleece liner. Its heavy duty and very warm. You could pretty easily wear this in the winter with nothing but a t shirt underneath and stay comfortable inside and out. That being said the sleeves tend to run short on this so if you have long arms make sure and spring for a larger size. It is true that the lining in the armpits "feel a bit like you have a mitten stuffed under each arm" and the pockets could definitely be further back. With these drawbacks in mind this is still an excellent piece of clothing that offers both warmth and comfort without comprising style.

    Snazzy and warm sweater

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Extra Large

This was a gift. Fleece lining makes this extremely warm, better for outdoors but can be worn inside. He is 6' and 220lbs and the XL fits perfect.

    Old School/New School Balance.

The style of ths sweater is really top notch. I love the old school alpine design with the new twist of the hand pockets and hood. Makes this a classic that will fetch compliments from your grandparents and your kids' friends.

Heavy weight, wear as a mid- or heavy jacket. The idea of facing the 100% wool shell with the no-itch fleece interior is excellent. The wood collar ends on the hood and waist adjustment strings add a quality old world touch. This will get some wear this winter, I can tell already!

Suggestions to get that 5-star rating:

    1. Move the hand pockets back to the sides a little. They are so far forward that there isn't enough room for a full size pocket. I don't have huge hands, but I can only bury them up to the wrist and no further.

    2. At the underarm, replace the fleece lining with something thinner. The wool shell is already fairly thick, and adding the fleece makes the sweater bind just a bit under the arms. It's not severe, but it does feel a bit like you have a mitten stuffed under each arm. This isn't an area where you need the extra warmth, so why not go for a thinner insert right there? It would help the sleeve fall about 1/2" longer and. hey....see my sizing comments below.

Sizing: I'm 6'2", 175 lbs. 43" chest, 31" waist, 34/35" sleeve size. I ordered a large. The chest is actually slightly snug, the waist has plenty of room but is not baggy. The sleeves come right to the wrist, but don't rest on the base of my thumbs. I would have loved another 1/2" to 1" there ideally, but the length is workable. Since there is no elastic wrist cuff, my baselayer sticks out slightly but doesn't look strange.

Overall: High quality item, and I'm very happy with it.

zipper on the left hand side?

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

First thing I noticed when I got the sweater in the mail was that the zipper pulls up on the left hand side instead of the right. Usually that is the sign of a women's garment. It made me check my order but it says men's . Looks cool but I'm wondering if this is right. Anyone else get one? How is your zipper configured?

    Hi John--

That's actually pretty common among European and higher end designers. I can't tell you it's any more practical, just a way to be different I suppose.

Because of my build, I get a lot of Euro-sized wear, and it threw me the first time I saw it too.

No worries, you have a man's sweater.

Now if you get something with the BUTTONS on the wrong side, that's another story...

Just add a crackling fire and bourbon

The perfect winter ambiance is achieved with this sweater. Super warm Wool outer with soft fleece lining that carries through to pockets and the hood. I mean, seriously, who wouldn't want this?
