Lange RX 90 Ski Boot - Women's

Comfortable performance for all-mountain gals.

Lange boots are bred from serious racing stock, but like that greyhound that your sister adopted, they can be sweet, loving, and friendly if you give 'em a chance. The RX 90 Women's Ski Boot, for example, is based on a classic Lange but has been significantly chilled out, with a very manageable 90 flex rating that you can push all over the mountain with confidence and a 100mm last that's slightly wider than the most aggressive Langes but narrow enough to hug your foot and eliminate that dreaded sloppy and imprecise feeling.

While the RX 90 is a little more relaxed than race-ready boots, it has a lot in common with them, starting with the mono-injected shell. All Lange's boots use this construction for its smooth-flexing and consistent feel, and they also lock down with a classic four-buckle design (the Ergo Race buckles are made of durable aluminum and designed to be easy to manipulate with gloves on) that provides the most secure fit and strong, reliable feel. The cuff is also cut shorter to better fit female calves, and it's finished with a one-piece collar for a smooth fit that helps to eliminate shin bang and leg pain.

Inside the RX 90 you'll find a Thermofit RL2 heat-moldable liner. Cushier than the RL1 but more aggressive than the RL3, it's the perfect choice choice for intermediate and lightweight experts, and Lange's even filled it up with Thinsulate insulation in key spots to keep your toes warmer so you can ski longer without stopping. The Power Wrap Tongue+ provides a firm and precise, but comfortable, feel in the front of the boot to increase control and help save your shins, and the Ultra Grip soles take the terror out of walking over exposed rocks and down icy base-lodge stairs.

The ski boot I was looking for

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm stoked I have these boots this season! I did a lot of research and tried on several boots (Technica, Salomon, Lange) and these were the right boots for my feet. My feet measure at 25.5 --or 25 if I wanted a super tight fit, but I like the feel of 25.5. These boots are definitely stiff. Lange boots in general are stiffer for the given rating, so I get enough out of the 90. The XT 90s are great too if you need a ski with a walk mode, but I don't (I have separate backcountry boots for that). The SX 90s are a bit wider if you have wider feet, but these (at 100mm width last) feel great. My left ankle sticks out more due to an old injury, and so some boots hurt the inside of my ankle, but not these RXs. Yeah, you don't want to sit around in them for long when they're tightened up, but when I'm skiing I feel nothing at all, just smooth control :) . I haven't even got the liners heat molded to my feet yet. The one downside is that my toes still get a little cold on cold days riding chair lifts. I was told this liner was one of the warmest Lange made, so maybe I need to invest in a pair of boot gloves or foot warmers. (I should add, I've only skied a few seasons, I can ski most any terrain but I'm no Angel Collinson)
