Not true to size
A bunch of reviews said this was true to size, or even that they sized down... I went with a 37.5 to fit my size 7US feet knowing that normal shoes at a 37.5 would be too small.... surprise, they were way too small. I know climbing shoes are supposed to be tight, but the crunch they put on my big toe would have been crippling. Will return and get a larger size

Great for beginners
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
This shoe is great for beginners it's comfortable as far as climbing shoes go. La Sportivas are my go to climbing shoes I've tried other brands but they just don't do it for me like sportivas. I wear a womens size 9 in normal shoes so I got these in a 40.5 they fit perfectly they were bit snug at first but once they broke in it was a Cinderella moment for me.

Love the shoes!

I love these shoes. I had a pair of Tarantulace shoes I wore out that were almost the same... - these fit the same as my old ones without the cumbersome laces. :) I was excited to get velcro to help me get them on and off faster when climbing. They are super comfy! I use them as my comfortable climbing shoes that I can wear for longer if needed. They aren't aggressive climbing shoes... but when I need comfort, they do the job. I have other shoes that are more aggressive that I use when doing harder climbs. I use them in the gym a lot. I have a really hard time finding climbing shoes that fit nicely and these fit great; -I have a wide toe box and they fit perfect. I sized down two sizes from my street shoes so my toes have a curl in them. I have friends who only size down 1 size in these shoes, so I guess if you're trying to figure out what size to get... I'd start with sizing down 1. Hope this review helps! Love the shoes! :) Thanks La Sportiva and Backcountry! :)

Wide through the toe
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
My daughter climbs competitively and has had a couple pairs of La Sportiva shoes when she was a beginner. The Tarantula lace up were her first shoe and worked great. Ordered these as an inexpensive option for outdoor climbing camp this summer and unfortunately they?re very wide through the toe, and not suitable for her narrow feet, so they didn?t provide any stability. No fault of the shoe, just not meant for someone who is narrow footed.

Don’t love them, don’t hate them
I have some dead space in this shoe though I went down a full size/size and a half from my street shoe size. Still, any smaller and they would be wildly uncomfortable to wear for any length of time. Overall they are good for a beginner shoe.
