The Solution to your blown-out-pants blues.

Since they're built with ultra-durable stretch Cordura fabric and a gusseted crotch, you shouldn't be shocked if your La Sportiva Solution Climbing Pants last longer than you. The waist is a comfortable elastic that hangs on when you need it to but won't dig in when you're cranking hard. Other cool features include an integrated toothbrush pocket so you can clean up manky holds easily, an integrated stash pocket for small essentials, and articulated knees for a natural feel.

Better than Prana

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: large

If you've climbed in the Prana Zion and think it's great, try the Solution. This fabric is more durable with a slimmer fit and better ankle adjustment. It's unfortunately that La Sportiva has discontinued these pants since they are pretty amazing. Hopefully they bring them back someday.

Why I love the Solution Pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

La Sportiva's solution pants are by far the best climbing pants that I have found on the market. They combine both comfort and durability, while still providing a pant that climbs well on hard face and crack climbs alike. They allow for ease of movement and never feel restrictive. One pair of these pants has lasted far longer than any other synthetic type pant! Anytime I head to the crag, the solution pants are always my first choice!

Durable bouldering pants

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Very comfortable pants for climbing that last forever!

Tough and stretchy

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Small

I own about 4 pairs of climbing specific pants, and these are some of my favorites. They are absolutely bomb proof, I tend to boulder the most, and they are still holding up great after countless knee bars and sketchy top outs. Fabric is super stretchy, and the gusseted crotch makes those high feet and heel hooks way more comfortable. The waist band is also super stretchy, which is awesome, no need for a belt

The one caveat I have is in the sizing. I normally wear a 31ish waist, and I was smack in between the small and medium. I went with the small, because in the medium the waist felt a little loose even with the stretchy waist, and I don't like wearing a belt while climbing

Bomber

I've put these pants through hell and all they have to show for it is minor pilling on high wear areas. I've worn these on a 25ish mile hike to summit cloud peak in the bighorns, to climb wide cracks in vedauwoo, to crank up dolomite pockets in south piney, and even on a 10 day trip to the city of rocks in Idaho.

    Can't Take Them Off

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

I love the Solution pants. The fit is great - not too tight, not too loose, and they are holding up to a lot of abuse. The Cordura fabric dries fast and the cuff cinch works well. I'm also very stoked on the deep pockets.

May I ask what waist size you usually wear?

Todd, my usual pant size is a 30/30.

    Quality, Tight

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I am 6'1" and usually wear pants with a 32' waist. The size Medium fits me perfectly. The Solutions are super comfortable. Ankle cinch was the selling point for me, however, the cinch isn't elastic, so it often hangs down and gets stepped on. Quick-drying. Durable. Great climbing pants.

    what shoes are those

    I bought 3

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

great pants I bought a pair of these and tried them out. After a few climbs and hikes I went back and bought two more pair's. When you find something this great you don't want to live with out. I agree with Steve L. "They are near indestructible. The cordura fabric can take a beating". I can't count how many times I thought this rock or branch just teared a hole in my pants. I have yet been able to do so.

    Best climbing pants. PERIOD.

Ive been climbing in these for a few months. They are near indestructible. The cordura fabric can take a beating, i have climbed a few offwidth pitches and mainly crack climbs and a few boulders in them. The fit is perfect, im 5' 10" 170 lbs and the medium is great. Its a steep price for a piece of clothing thats meant to take a beating, but they have held up EXTREMELY well and show very little signs of wear and tear.

    Best climbing pants. PERIOD.

what size is your waist? i dont know if i fully trust this size chart compared to other typical "smalls" or "mediums"...

    32-34 depending on the brand
