Light is fast.

Sure, La Sportiva's Helios 2.0 Running Shoe would be lighter than air if it were actually made from helium, but your feet might feel pretty kicked after an 18 mile trail run in them. Not to mention, you might have a hard time finding them before you head out for a run. For that, and a few more, reasons, it's probably best that La Sportiva built the Helios 2.0 the way that it did, which is actually really light. Weighing just eight ounces per shoe, the Helios 2.0 is made with a super light HyDrain mesh upper, TPU lacing harness, and microfiber heel and toe for extra support and increased durability. The heel of the Helios is lined with a moisture-wicking EVA AirMesh for added comfort, while the shoe's MorphoDynamic Midsole ensures a springy feel right out of the box. The Helios 2.0 maintains the same minimal 4mm drop as its predecessor, but is now equipped with a fast lacing drawcord closure for a quick and secure closure to the shoe.

3rd pair

3rd pair. Still great. No complaints. Will continue to buy

    Great

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 44

These shoes are really light and required next to no break in. I've put around 8 miles on them so far and really like them.

2nd Worst shoe I've ever worn

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small

This is the jealous mis-shaped bastard that stabbed the VK in the back and ruined everything. I've worn the Vertical K before this shoe came along to kill it off so that's what my disappointment comes from.

    Onto some details:
-outsode/midsole. These shoes use a morph-whatever sole that instead of conventional lugs uses a thin layer of rubber over a soft midsole to mold itself over the ground.
I suppose a common complaint of the VK was it's lack of rock protection so the helios2 uses a stiffer foam. The result is as little grip as most road shoes, straight up pathetic.
-upper: The VK had a sock instead of an upper that wrapped itself around the most twisted of feet with comfort, that to me was the selling point of the shoe (and it's pricetag). The helios wanted a firmer hold over my feet through the use of overly firm overlays and fake leather-ish panels. Horrible fit.
-lacing: the quick laces on the helios are a lesson in how to screw up speed laces. Place the laces too far forward for any heel retention, make a lock that loses tension during downhills, and a lace "holder" so finicky that normal laces are faster.

Only good thing I can say is I've ran in a shoe worse than this, I think.

    Runs small

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small

I loved the Helios 1 shoe and put several pairs through the wringer, I purchased the Helios 2 with high hopes but got my pair of Helios 2s and could barely get my foot in them even with the speed lace loosened all the way up, sent them back and after talking to a gearhead went up a full size.

    Good running shoe

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is my second pair. Comfortable, breathable, and light. Used it for work and running. Only bad part is if you use them daily they wear quick. Bought my first pair about a year ago.

    Very Comfortable Shoe

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 46.5

So far this shoe has been very comfortable. I use it for everyday use, and it has met my expectations. It probably would not be a very good shoe for very rocky trails.

small fit, beware of no rock plate

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 43.5-need 44

If you think La sportiva shoes are "true to size" then either you think you have a smaller foot than you do or you like your toes curled like a climbing shoe. Definitely size up at least 1/2 but likely 1 whole size if you actually want any space for your toes. I wear a size 10 in US and had to get a size 44 in these babies. This shoe does not have a rock plate so running over small rocks causes stabbing pain in your foot. The sole isn't very resistant to granite. I know there are better La sportiva shoes out there for technical running but if you want a lightweight shoe for buttery smooth singletrack they'd work fine.

    Great Shoe

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

Lightweight, breathable comfortable shoe. Fits true to size
