One of a kind.

Keen's Uneek Men's Sandal is technically a strappy sandal, but that doesn't really explain what it's all about. The upper is made entirely of two polyester cords, which are woven together in such a way that they conform to your foot as you move, which provides surprising support in a lightweight, breathable, and comfortable package. A drawstring closes the cords snugly around your foot, and the microfiber footbed, PU midsole, and non-marking rubber sole work together to keep you comfortable and upright on short hikes, tropical explorations, and casual summer days.

They Work!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Good breeze, but enough stability to wear for hours. Good choice for someone who can't choose between a sandal and a water shoe!

I intend to go places in these shoes

From the boardroom to the beach these shoes can go anywhere. They breath like sandals and hide your toe fungus like sneakers. I believe these are the pinnacle of human achievement.

My Go To Shoe From March to October

I saw these shoes in person originally, and despite apprehensions from both friends and family about the looks, nature, and purpose of these shoes, I couldn't help but fall in love with these amazing pieces of magical footwear. Seriously, I bought them on a whim because I tend to be a fan of things reserved yet outlandish, and these fit the bill, what I didn't realize though was how insanely comfortable they would be. As a college student, I'm usually in a hurry, and ten to end up all over the place throughout my day. Before these Keens I always had to try to make up my mind as to what footwear would work best each day, now that I have these, the checklist is much simpler. Sunny? KEENS. Rainy? KEENS. Muddy? KEENS. Going to the Beach? KEENS. Going hiking? KEENS. Sitting through an 8 AM systems dynamics lecture? KEENS. Snowing? Probably still KEENS. These things are the best shoe ever of you want shoes to buy, keep by the door, and forget about having to make a single footwear choice for the next 6 months. I've had my pair for over a year, and they have survived day after day of sole/soul destroying pavement, mud, snow, camping, hiking, offroading in ATVs, and even several wipeouts on a dirt bike (one instance where they may not have been the best choice.) But ANYWAYS. Long story short, I will be buying another pair if these IF my current pair ever wears out, which doesn't look like it's going to be anytime soon.

This what happens when a D School student headed to show at Red Rocks forgets their espadrilles and happens upon a fifty foot roll of shock cord in the glovebox of their Saab 9-3 convertible. And you can't convince me otherwise.

Out of the gate I like these totally unnecessary shoes. They improve exactly upon nothing but they're fun to wear. The Uneek (I assume marketing time traveled back to 1993 to focus group this name) perform best at the bottom of a kayak, and even then "perform" may be too strong a word.

In person they actually kind of look like badass running shoes but for the wrap-around heel strap. About that heel strap--that's exactly why these aren't sandals but rather the the espadrilles we didn't know we wanted until we hit the back nine of the disc golf course at Fort Lewis College. Anyway, sandals do a better job than these shoes at letting the bottom of your clammy feet breathe and letting detritus slip off of the sole of your foot. So, to that end these are best for sidewalks and other manicured grounds. Sure you can hike and cross streams in these, but shoes provide better support and sandals dry faster. They're not bad camp shoes, but there are smaller, lighter options that take up less space in your pack if you're headed out into the backcountry.

The Uneek's design already makes a statement, so you might as well go all out and get them in a clashy two-tone. Speaking of bombastic shoes-- Thinking about it, these are exactly the kind of shoe I would've liked to wear between events at a track meet. Those days are many years and even more beers behind me, but back then we'd cut up old running shoes to make a kind of hybrid shoe to slip on after a long workout. The Uneek would've been a go to back then for sure.

To wrap this up, if you get a pair of Uneek from me for Christmas it doesn't mean I hate you; it means I couldn't decide between Reebok Pumps or LA Lights (and I already gave you a remastered copy of Haddaway's greatest hits for your birthday), so I split the baby and got you these. De nada, friend.

    Ultimate sandal

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 9

Love the way this conforms to my foot. Open and airy but rugged enough for light hiking, beachwear etc.

    Love it

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 10.5

Comfortable as an athletic shoe, durable as a boot and breezy as a sandal. Style is a little out there and may take some getting used to, but so far my feet like them.
