Winter's no time to be stuck inside.

Once the leaf-lookers clear out and the fall litter that covers the trails is blanketed with several feet of snow, pull on a pair of Keen Men's Durand Polar Boots and enjoy the solitude only mid-winter mountains can deliver. The Durands are made in America and heavily insulated with KEEN.Warm synthetic insulation for serious warmth. Their waterproof, breathable insert prevents heat-robbing moisture from creeping through as you break trail through the fresh snow. Underfoot is a heat-trapping footbed to prevent heat loss through the sole of the boot. A cushioning PU midsole with stability shank ensures stability and comfort when the snow turns to compacted ice. Their sole is made from a multi-density rubber with an aggressive tread pattern to keep you on your feet on all but the iciest surfaces.

First Pair Of Snow Boots

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 11.5

I ordered these over the weekend to use on a future trip. Just got them yesterday. Like so many of the other reviews mentioned, they do run small. I normally wear a 10.5 in shoes, but for these, I needed a 11.5. They fit perfectly and I have about an inch of extra room at the toes in case I need/want to wear thicker socks. Looking forward to field testing them.

very comfortable

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 10

but like others, had to order a full size larger. ordered a 9; which is my size; then a 9.5 and finally a 10. cant wait for the first hike!!!!

Functional and Warm

These boots are awesome. I've used them in temps down to -5 deg F or so, and my digits don't even get a chill (I wear thin Smartwool PhD socks). I have never experienced that before with other winter boots. Walking in the snow with or without snowshoes, they work as advertised. I just returned from Mammoth Mountain's 2017 snowpacolypse...snowshoes sank up to my knees, but these boots kept the digits toasty...all the way to the top of the boot, zero water penetration after hours in deep deep snow. Fantastic. True to size.

    Unanswered Question

Do they fit true to size?

    Perfect Snow Boot

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 13

Make sure you purchase a size bigger than your normal shoe.
I believe even the Keen website says to as well. I normally wear a size 12 but purchased a 13 and they fit great.
These boots are perfect for taking your dog on a hike in the snow, spending time ice fishing, or tromping through the snow with your kids. The KEENdrymembrane in combination to the 400gKEENwarm synthetic insulation keep your feet warm and very dry even when walking through knee deep snow.
I primarily wear these hiking with my dog through snow, and they maintain a good hold on most conditions, ice an snow even when the terrain get steep.

Why have Keen changed their last?

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 11.5

I have been wearing, pretty much exclusively, Keen footwear for the last 12 years. I worked out very early on that i needed to order a half size larger to get a good fit but that was a good fit and I enjoyed very comfortable shoes, sandals and boots which have seen me right through terrains ranging from the Arctic through Patagonia. Then these. usual size (half a size larger) I could barely get my feet into. Went another full size larger and still too tight across the arch. I had this problem with some of keen's 'street shoes' a couple of years ago and their reply was that they were ' trying to appeal to a wider market'. Message to Keen. Those of us who have been buying your shoes for 10+ years do it because ' the wider market' just don't make shoes that are comfortable for us. Because we are 'the wider market" (see what I did there?)
