Finding a ski that's both powerful and playful can be like trapping a unicorn—a feat some might consider impossible. But to those who have slapped the reins on such a mythic beast as the Kastle FX85 HP Ski know, the impossible is always possible with a little ingenuity and the knowledge of what works and what doesn't. Look under the hood of the Kastle FX85 HP Ski and you'll find the inner workings of a hard-charging frontside carver, but with an early rise tip and tail, this ski is plenty playful enough to lay down turns off-piste without sacrificing that stiff and stable feel you want when you're arcing big turns down your favorite blues and blacks.
The FX85 HP gets its stiffness and stability from two titanal laminates above and below the lightweight silver fir wood core. Its sandwich construction with full-length ABS sidewalls ensure a stable feel at speed, while a thin layer of rubber over the edges helps reduce chatter through the ski, so you won't feel like you're going to lose a filling when you hit a chunk of ice mid-run. Speaking of reducing chatter, the FX85 HP integrates Kastle's Hollowtech technology in the shovel, which dramatically reduces vibration through the ski, reduces wandering, and keeps the weight low for an easy-to-turn feel. By pushing the widest point of contact further back from the tips, the FX85 has a more forgiving feel that won't hook up when you least expect it. These skis are built to last with a UHM graphite sintered base material that won't piece out after the first pebble, while protective top foil along the top sheet keeps them looking clean after that careless beater rolls over your brand new boards in the lift line.
