KÜHL Rydr Pant - Men's

Keeps up with wild days in the mountains.

The only way to make a full day of bouldering at your favorite local site better is to do it with the Kuhl Rydr Pant, which features stretchy fabric, a gusseted crotch, and articulated knees for comfort in the crux. This slightly stretchy cotton twill pant has a wider-leg for thick-thighed athletes so you won’t feel constricted when you go for a heel hook. The double-needle bar tacks and two-layer pockets and hems provide extra reinforcement while you climb, hike, or scramble up a rugged goat path.

  • Climb, hike, or kick back and relax in these well-rounded pants
  • Fabric is tough, comfortable, and reinforced in key areas
  • River washed finish gives fabric a worn-in look
  • Articulated knees and inseam gusset promote mobility

Color fades far too much after 1st wash

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

The indigo along with the dark khaki and grey were placed separately in the washing machine and after washing the color faded off at numerous spots all over the pants for all three. At this point they look like tie-dies, the indigo looks too silly to wear (imagine dark indigo along with white stripes where the color bled off), the other two are not as bad looking.
I'm going to have to look into applying my own dye.

Great work pants, bad button...

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I use these pants for work and they are holding up great, but as other reviewers have said - I hate the button. You definitely have to wear a belt to keep that button clasped. It's the same style button on Kuhl's other products too and yes a belt is a must. But they are holding up well and they are super comfy. Really like the fit too.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 32

Positives: The fit is great, they're comfortable, the ergonomic fit is awesome.
Negatives: The French button - if you're not wearing a belt your pants will come unbuttoned when you squat or bend. The material - I had the cuffs, pockets, and butt frayed within a few wears. The look - I washed these pants and forgot to put them in the dryer one night. Once they were dry, I now permanently have crease marks all over the pants.
Options: Marmot makes great ergonomic pants at this price point, but they have some stretch. Carhartts and Patagonia work wear pants are great if you want something a little more burly. If you can afford it and you're willing to drop the cash, Fjallraven pants are the best outdoor/everyday-wear pant on the market!

Too wide

Too wide in the legs but the materials were quality you can tell.

    Too wide in legs

Wanted to like these but they are a different cut and don't taper at all. No way of knowing.

      the good stuff

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: True to size

Gave these as a gift to my Dad, and since then, he has bought like three more pairs! Safe to say that he likes them. I noticed right out of the package that the material used is way high quality and will last longer than anything else in your wardrobe.

      Great looking pants

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 34x32

These pants are super comfortable and really nice looking. I sometimes have trouble finding pants that either make me look frumpy or like I'm about burst out of them. These actually look good! They feel durable enough for work pants but look good enough to be everyday pants. I would buy 10 more pairs of these if I could!

      Ripped before wearing them

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 34x36

I have been on the fence about ordering these pants for several months due to the cost per pair and my profession and how hard it is on clothing. I finally pulled the trigger and bought two pairs. The first pair I opened for very well. After I got to work about an hour later I noticed a small rip right above the right knee. I hadn't done anything but drive to work.

The Most Durable of 'Em All - Ya'll

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 32 x 32

The labeling on the Rydr indicates a Full Fit. My experience is that is has more of a "Taper" from the Knee down to the Ankle.
This canvas like pant is incredibly durable and fits very much like the FreeRydr except with thicker fabric. I love these pants!
These pants are designed and made with contouring for an active lifestyle indoors and outdoors. The style is great. Durability is incredible. Pockets are useful and handy. This pant tapers from the knee down to the ankle for the more slim or tapered look. Color choices seem a bit redundant-however, there are many choices. I have many of them now and don't wear jeans anymore. They have become my "go-to" all around active-lifestyle pants. These a bit more in the FALL-Winter and Spring due to the thicker fabric. Great working pant or Mountain pant. -Great with button up shirts. Both long-sleeve and short-sleeve. Finished it off with some leather shoes or boots.

      Nice Pants

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: 32x30

I am 5' 11'' and 165 pounds. The fabric is great; thick, and rugged. I love the taper from the knees down. I usually wear a 32x30 in all other pants, but these are a bit too large in the waist, causing a bulge where my bits and pieces are, which doesn't look too cool. I think next time I would order a 31 waist? Perhaps it is due to the relaxed fit? Perhaps it is due to the style of waist that Kuhl has? Overall these are nice looking and rugged pants. I would not pay full price for them for sure. Wait until they are on sale!!

Good design, but too much color fade

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

The pant's fit really well and have a good look to them while holding a tough outer fabric. The problem that I have with them is that the colors fade around all the movable areas. I know the company says they are designed to fade, but it looks terrible when the knee area is 3 to 4 shades darker than the rest of the garment. Otherwise great pants!

      Thanks for the review, Mark!

      Best Pants I Own

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

These are the best casual/work pants i've ever owned. They are not something i'd wear hiking but for everything else they are great. Bought my father a pair and he loves them also.

      Perfect

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 34x34

Rydr Pants are great for almost anything. I wear them out for dinner or headed up in mountains. The Rydr's are pretty true to size. I wear a size 33 but size up because I like the extra room so the 34 work well.

      Perfection

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: True to size

I bought it as a gift but here is the feedback:

You will love these. Great pants to shovel snow in, go to the office, or go to dinner. Super versatile. Fits true to size.

      Very comfortable

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 38 W x 32 Inseam

I have a a few pair of Kuhl pants and like them all but the Ryders are my favorite. The fit great and allow for movement. I wear them outside when doing work or to the office.
The espresso color is a nice color but it does change over time as it is supposed to look distressed. The color will turn from almost black to a dark shade of green after a dozen or so washing's.
The pocket on the leg is great for cell phones.
I also have a dark khaki light brown pair and these look dressier.

      Very Comfortable Pants

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 36x30

These are my favorite pair of pants. I have three pairs and wear them all the time. They seem to be true to size.

      KUHL Pants Are Cool

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: 33x34

I am 6'4" and was surprised how long the 34 length pant was (in a good way!). That is why I marked the pant as 'runs large' . The material is stout, almost canvas like (great for the outdoors!) I recommend dark khaki. An olive brown hue, very Kuhl!

      kuhl pants are great

This is what i wear daily, i don't think any other pants would do for me, these are comfortable, durable and amazing, i use them for work or play and never have been happier

        Kuhl Rydr Pants

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: 36 regular

I bought these pants because they were full cut with articulated knees and gusseted crotch. I bought my first pair and was impressed with the fit for my athletically built men. After test driving these for a couple of months I bought 4 additional pairs of these in different colors to wear for work in an office and weekend activities.

A few months went by and I noticed that these pants weren't very durable and were starting to fray and tear (in the case of the Rydr cargo shorts the entire waistband tore away from the pants and the crotch blew out). Needless to say that after a owning these for 6 months I have had to contact Kuhl to discuss the warranty on these pants. How can pants like these fall apart so quickly? I am in the process of returning all 5 pairs of these pants for replacement by Kuhl. They are much more delicate that they advertise or appear. IMO, I don't think that these will take the rigors of hiking and climbing very long.

I am now looking for a comparable pants made by Marmot that seem to hold up much better under normal wear than these Kuhl's.

I am disappointed at the performance and durability of these pants.

        Comfortable and well made

I bought these as a gift for my brother-in-law and this is what he has to say about them...

"Love the pants. They are comfortable and feel thick and well made. Considering buying another pair."
