Julbo Bivouak Zebra Antifog Photochromic Sunglasses

Smart.

Your weather report says to expect clouds for the next two days, but after that, it's anyone's guess. And two days from now, it'll be time to bust out the crampons and begin moving up the glacier. Not only can you adjust the Julbo Bivouak Sunglasses' lens tint to changing light conditions, but it's also the first pair of mountaineering sunglasses to feature side shields that affix magnetically.

I can see clearly now...

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The biouak sugnlasses with the zebra lenses are so sick! I've been so psyched about how quickly the lenses adapts to the current light I am in. As a skier, trail runner, and hiker it's so nice to walk into the shade and still be able to see clearly. I love the vented lenses because I can crush it on the uphill and don't have to worry about taking foggy glasses off and cleaning them every 5 minutes. As a ski mountaineer these glasses also provide me the visual security to see clearly and not worry about missing a step. I love the flexible arms because I can bend them to fit my tiny head! I was concerned when I first got the retainers because the clips seemed so flimsy but I haven't had any issues with them. I also broke these glasses on a cold day ski touring and Julbo was super helpful with the warranty process.

Julbo not what it used to be....

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Have had lots of Julbos before and have found them awesome. Used them fishing, mountaineering, etc. Have had the Bivouaks for a few years and the lens is starting to delaminate which is new. Have contacted the retailer who said it is a manufacturing issue, contacted Julbo on email and no reply. Posted on Facebook and they said to email. Emailed again and they said to go to the retailer, they did not seem surprised which says to me it is quite a common issue. Disappointing Julbo are letting there quality lapse, think I might switch to Adidas sunnies in future.

Hey Matt, just seeing your review now. Sorry for the mix up here but this is definitely a manufacturer defect, which we cover under out Lifetime Warranty. Shoot me an e-mail and we'll get these fixed up for you david at JulboUSA dot com.

Just as a follow up after I posted this review I contacted Julbo and they sent a replacement pair. Being in Australia I had previously contacted the distributor, but in the end (after a 3 month process) Julbo backed their product and have replaced the faulty lenses which is excellent service.

Love the lenses

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I got talked into buying the camel lenses in the trek frame recently. I liked them so much that I bought this pair too. I have mostly used these around town in sunny bright Colorado. The fit in the bivouak is better for my face. My head is large. My hat size is 7 5/8". This frame fits around my nose much better (than the treks with less light leakage on the bottom of the frames).
The photo-chromatic lenses are fantastic. They usually adjust quickly. I do not even notice. However, I am not a mountain biker. They are brighter and more yellow than the camel lenses. I gave them 4 stars because I prefer the camel lenses. If you like brighter and non-polarized go with the zebras. If you want darker and polarized the camels are worth the extra money.

Julbo does it again!

  • Fit: True to size

Light and adjustable frame, quick to balance the light. I use them on the ski hill and walking the dog on the frozen lake. They even stay on when I took a good tumble. They are on as often as I can wear them. Gotta love the Granny Smith Apple colour(Great in the Apre, Lodge Skiing). I have not removed the shields as of yet. On my way to Tulum and they are going with me. Ill comment when I return. Not my first pair of Julbo's. I grab them when they are on sale mostly.

I got them in black

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large

But wish I had them in the green. Zebra lens is simply amazing and worth every penny of the buy in. This frame is simple, easy to use, adjustable and tough. It is a basic, get the job done, frame. WOrht a try ot see if ti fits your face. Made for a big head/face imo. Works well for me.

My first

My first

Love the glasses

These are great glasses for backcountry touring. Anti fog worked very well.

Only issue was I lost one shield during in and out of the pack.
