Unite yourself with comfortable bike shorts.
Sever your ties with uncomfortable mountain bike clothing, and instead, embrace a pair of baggies that are built to move with you, offer ample stretch, and have the coverage you need for bushwhacking into the backcountry to discover untouched rock gardens and root-laden tree lines. Slide yourself into the iXS Sever 6.1 Shorts for women and you'll be ready to shred, thanks to a blend of recycled PET polyester and elastane that breathes and stands up to abuse from stray branches. This perfect blend of support and give sets you up with all-way-stretch so you're never restricted in the saddle, whether mashing up a deer trail to explore what might lie around the next corner, or tail whipping off of rollers.
You'll be happy to find the long, and loose cut of these shorts setting you up with the right amount of coverage on DH days, with the room you need to throw pads underneath, and the coverage that seals the gap of hook and loop straps, so you don't deal with uncomfortable bunching or bare spots. The polyester and elastane blend breathes with ease, pulling sweat away to keep you dry when the ride gets pedal heavy, or the temperature starts to soar. If you're not one for riding with a pack on all day, you'll be pumped to spot the 4 zippered pockets that offer ample storage for your essentials and snack packs.

- Q & A
IXS Severs do a body good!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
The fit is great!!! (I'm 5'6" & 120#, with a waist + hips and thighs that can pedal a body uphill.) The Severs fit excellent. Baggy but not a bag, nice soft stretchy fabric. And coverage over the knee! No more gappy abyss + odd tan lines between my knee pro and short. They're made from recycled stuffs to boot!!! IXS also nails the details. Pockets are large and well placed and the zippers are high quality waterproof zips. Nice soft fabric strip around waist keeps things from chafing. I didn't know when I bought these, but the inner thighs of the shorts are actually a meshy material which is pretty subtle. Thus the shorts dump heat when one must rage uphill. They remained comfortable during recent 90+ degree desert rides. I've tried a lot of different MTB shorts by a lot of different brands, and these are far and away my faves!! Backcountry, please stock the new colors for this year!!
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
These shorts are really comfortable and look great. They are stretchy where they need to be. The front pockets are great to access stuff while you are riding. Love these shorts!
These are my new fav mtb shorts. They are slim through the legs, super stretchy and long!!! They come to my knees without feeling too baggy or long. Cover my kneepads great even when pedaling. Plus the side cargo pockets at the bottom of the shorts are super functional. I can toss my iphone in there and donât feel it while riding. I went with a small - 5â7â 38â hips usually wear a 4 or 6 for clothing.
Trail, DH, Enduro riding...
Whatever you are hitting these shorts will ride with you in comfort. I bought them too big, but between the fact I love them so much and the option to wear a belt I refuse to be without them. Will definitely order another in smaller size when possible. I wear Knee/shin guards and these fit over them perfectly. Get so many compliments, friends asking to feel the fabric and queries, I highly recommend these shorts of you are into the longer, baggy style.
Solid DH baggies
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: True to size
I snagged the iXS Sever 6.1 shorts for riding DH since they boast a long inseam that fits over kneepads with ease. They do indeed have that, and are great for riding lift laps, but are so long that I won't break them out for any other kind of riding.
The fabric is comfortable and stretchy and easy to move in, and the zippers provide awesome storage, unlike some other women's short options.
