A solid backcountry companion, the Icelantic Vanguard 97 Ski will handle the variable conditions you encounter in the high country. With a versatile 97mm waist, the Vanguard will hold an edge when you're confronted with icy wind-blown faces, soft wind-buffed bowls, or even luck out with perfectly cured corn come spring. Icelantic gave the Vanguard a rockered tip for added lift in powder, but kept the tail flat for added stability when conditions turn firm. A generous dose of camber underfoot ensures a smooth-carving feel when you're linking turns down wide-open bowls and wide couloirs. It's a no-brainer that a dedicated backcountry ski has to be just as proficient on the up as the down, so Icelantic built the Vanguard with an ultralight ochroma wood core and durable sidewalls for added security.
