Early bird gets the worm.

While the idea of wearing a merino wool sports bra may induce feelings comparable to wearing that famously itchy, hand-knit sweater your grandmother crafted for you years ago—it's not. We wouldn't call the Icebreaker Women's Sprite Racerback Bra golden-retriever-puppy-soft, but it's the closest thing to fluffy comfort you can get in a sports bra. Intended for low to moderate impact sports, the Sprite Raceback Bra ensures a comfortable ride with its merino wool fabric which regulates your body temperature to keep you cool and comfy while the blended Lycra encourages a stretchy, supportive fit. Additionally, merino wool also has natural odor-fighting properties so you don't have to wash it after each training session. The racerback straps won't slip, and the soft band gives great support without constriction while you run, hike, climb, or dive effortlessly into downward facing dog.

Surprisingly Supportive

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: medium

Merino is great because it doesn't smell, so I have purchased one before for backpacking, but they have had zero support. This is the first merino sports bra that has given me any support. I'm so happy! It's clearly not for high impact, but it definitely was keeping things in place while hiking and running around the desert.

Surprisingly Supportive

Gave this as a gift

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I have some feed back: "This is the perfect bra for low-impact, high sweat activities. After a sweaty day of skiing, this bra is dry and doesn’t smell."

Awesome & Extremely comfortable

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Med

Love it! This is my second ice breaker sports bra, just wanted antoher in a new different color. Could wear this all day long! So so comfortable!

Different than your average sports bra

  • Fit: Runs large

Since this sports bra is made from merino wool it is on the softer side and can tend to have a looser fit. I bought my standard size and found it supportive with a relaxed fit. It's a great material and found this to be a more comfortable alternative than a standard sports bra for things backpacking where you tend to wear it for longer time periods.

Great sports bra

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large

I was recommended the use of merino wool underwear for a backpacking, hicking trip, to avoid bad smell and to keep you comfortable when you sweat. I decided to try it and I am glad I did. It really keeps you dry, comfortable and does not get any odor even after using it couple of times. I bought an L following the measurements on the size chart and I felt it runs a little large.

So far so good

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Large

I bought this bra based on the numerous recommendations to get merino wool. I've tested it multiple times for sweat absorbance after workouts and subsequent stink , and it's holding up really well! I haven't washed it yet (3+ wears) and no stink issues yet! :) As far as size, I typically like a looser fit with more breath-ability (small chested and don't need insane support), so I was concerned initially that it would be too tight and I sized up. This was a good call if you're like me because I still feel like it's a little tight but with more wears it will loosen up. Overall, I'm very pleased so far and would recommend it.

Sizing off, has scratchy tags

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Medium

I'm usually in between M and S and was surprised that this was too large, due to other reviewer comments. I sized up, but it was apparently not the right call.
If the item was fine otherwise, I would have been able to make it work, since I'd be using this for backpacking and it'd be fine for it to be slightly loose. The real deal-breaker was a large scratchy tag sewn inside the seam beneath the left armpit. I've had sports bras with tags there before, and cutting them off always leads to a stub that scratches me raw. I could feel it just trying the bra on once. There's no way to remove the tag there without the remainder of it that's sewn into the hem staying there to scratch and leave a welt. Really bummed, since I need a good multi-day backpacking bra, and I didn't see any mention of the tag in prior reviews.

EDIT: I exchanged this for a small, and that's working out great. Took it on a 4-day trip and it performed well the whole time. No stink either!

Hi there Lauren G.,
Thank you very much for taking the time to review your Icebreaker Women's Sprite Racerback Bra. What a bummer that the sizing wasn't quite right! Quick FYI - the tags are completely removable (perforated), and can be completely ripped out. I totally agree with you Lauren! The tag on the inside is a huge bummer. Even after removing the tag, the other side of the tag stayed in my sports bra and still really, really bothered me. I had to get my seam ripper out and remove all pieces of the tag before I felt it was comfortable. Now with the entire tag removed and a big hole in the interior of my sports bra I don't have issues. Hopefully, it will hold up after having to rip out the nasty tag. Everything else in regards to this bra is great tho!!!

Great Material- comfortable for running

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: L

I bought this for underneath a merino shirt for running. I am 5ft 7, 140 lbs and I sized up to L since I was afraid it might be too tight chest-wise which I experienced with other Sports Bras in Medium sometimes.
Therefore it is a bit loose on the sides, aka not really tight fitting but I don’t mind that.

Seemed great, but need diff size.

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Just a PSA: I'm 5 foot 4, 130ish pounds, and wear a 36B - the size small was too snug.

Was it more snug around the band or the actual breast part? just curious, because I'm a 34c

Comfy and Stylish

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

For a mostly merino bra, the icebreaker is pretty soft, but it does hold the stink in when I am not able to wash it every day. It's supportive enough for yoga or a run, but also comfortable enough for a backpacking trip. This bra is a great addition to my collection for both every day use and active use.

Bought for backpacking trips

Extremely comfortable bra, Icebreaker always makes a high quality product. This bra fits well, doesn't itch and drys fast after you have worked up a sweat.

Not true to size

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Medium

I wear a lot of smartwool and hoped to get a bra to fit - I bought the size (medium) that fits my measurements, and when it came it was WAY too small. I had to return it and I have no idea why it was so small, but definitely not true to size.

great light support sports bra

I love the Sprite fabric, it is super soft and comfortable. I wear this is lightly aerobic actities- ie yoga or a hike as it isn't super supportive. It is the perfect bottom layer!

Given to my wife who now wants more, and would like to throw all of her other sports bras out. Highly recommends.

Wear it for days, don't even notice.

I finally caved and decided to upgrade my department store undergarments to hi-tech performance gear, and now I can never go back.

My job is broken into 24 hour shifts and I never know when I'm going to have to leap up from a dead sleep to respond. This sports bra goes with me from 0-100 every time.

It is truly *STINKLESS* even after ahem...72...straight hours of wear. It is mostly chafe free, who doesn't get a sore spot once in a while, seams are nice and flat, band is wide and doesn't cut into skin. I am a 34 B/C and the small is great for low-medium impact, think hiking and elliptical/bike. I'd want something a little more bullet proof before I attempted a trampoline contest, but for everyday moderate active wear and the occasional high octane crisis, it's my go-to choice. Plus, the purple is *fantastic.*

    Pros :
    non-itchy .
    stink free.
doesn't pinch, chafe, move, rub, or dig.
    colors brilliant.
washes / (air) dries easily and rapidly.

    Cons :
not super high impact - light / moderate only.
as always with Icebreaker, more colors please!

Good, not high-impact, for my size.

I love all things Icebreaker. I feel confident this would a great bra, as I have loved every thing else Icebreaker that I own. I needed a high impact bra, though, so I had to return this. I am a 34C and this was, by no means, good for high impact sports. Other than that, it fit perfectly and felt very comfortable.

    Awesome sport bra

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small

I'm a 34A and the small is perfect (I'm used to ordering extra small in most products for my petite frame, so I'd say this runs a little small). Doesn't cut anywhere, super soft, no itching, no seam issues. Have had this for a few months now, wearing it for workouts (treadmill/eliptical) as well as out hiking/backpacking. The straps are placed well to be compatible with wearing a backpack without pressure points (that's been somewhat hard to find in a sport bra). The wool is great; doesn't stink like synthetics would by this point. Has held up well, washed on the delicate cycle and line dried. I think for higher impact sports or for larger women this might not offer enough support but it's perfect for me and what I do.

So good next to your skin...

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

True to size, comfortable, ideal for A + cup size. Non-itch wool blend, washes great....dry it on low delicate cycle if you need to...

    Smooth and soft

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I love that I can wear this while carrying a heavy pack and it doesn't rub on my shoulders or back. Its soft and doesn't have any rough or thick seams. Runs true to size and the wool isn't itchy.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

Really soft, really comfy. Great to find a sports bra that doesn't feel like plastic! AND after wearing it a few days in a row, like everyone says, it does not smell at all. Merino, you're my favorite.

Also, I'm 34DD and this baby fits! I got the medium. Low impact only, but it's high cut enough that I don't feel like my accidental cleavage is taking over the room. It's wonderful.
