A fun, sleek style to match its performance.
Slide on the Houdini Women's Alpine Alphies Bottom for the cold days on the hill. Its Alpha Base fabric stretches comfortably and has a soft cotton-like feel. The wicking finish keeps you dry when you work up a sweat, and the pH pure antimicrobial treatment prevents foul odors from building up in the baselayer. Houdini added Econ Stretch at the knees for added insulation that has excellent breathability and moisture management qualities. The combination of the tight fit and alpha seams reduces bulk, and the 3/4 length leaves just your socks in your boots for less bunching.

- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: Medium
These are fabulous. The Alphies are soft, light, breathable, and have a little extra insulation just where you want it. My creaky, cold knees are very happy about these bottoms! The length hits just above a ski boot cuff so it doesn't bunch up around your calf. I've found the waistband to be very comfortable, though the rise of the pants is pretty high. I'm 5'9" and 135 pounds, and I purchased a size M, though I probably could have gone with a size S.
Great base layer
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: Runs large
These are perfect for skiing, and very warm. I ordered a size xs and I'm 5'4 120. The waist isn't too high and the length was perfect so that the bottoms didn't interfere with my ski boots. I wasn't sure of the xs but I'm glad I didn't get the sm as they would have been too big.
These alpine alphies are perfect for skiing. The fabric is similar in weight to Patagonia Capilene 3, but Houdini has padded the knee areas with double layered fleece. They are perfect for keeping knees warm, and in my case, since I wear knee pads under the snow pants, it's really nice to have some padding against the hard pads. Before getting these, I've always stuffed my full length long undies inside my snowboard boots. Not anymore - if you haven't tried 3/4 length undies, I strongly recommend them. Plus, Houdini is an ethical outdoor brand - these are made in the European Union (and the quality shows), not in some southeast Asian sweat shop.
