Cloven foot substitute.

Drawing inspiration from the eternally brutal climbs and killer descents of the Speedgoat ultra run, HOKA ONE ONE's Speedgoat 2 Men's Running Shoe offers you the cushion and support you'll need to cover 50k worth of ruthless terrain.

Like most HOKA ONE ONE shoes, the Speedgoat 2 features a supreme amount of cushion underfoot, while the durable, injection molded midsole helps enhance your transitions and defend your foot from trail-side obstacles. Additionally, the Balance Meta-Stage Geometry propels your stride forward, allowing you to make the most of your energy and cadence. The Vibram MegaGrip sole features 4mm lugs that grip and rip whether you're powering up dusty trails or down loose and dusty descents. And, last but not least, HOKA endowed the Speedgoat a 4.5-millimeter drop to encourage a natural, repeatable foot roll to decrease fatigue and increase efficiency.

  • A rugged trail shoe for challenging runs
  • Mesh upper breathes well on hot days
  • Vibram soles hold traction on scrambles
  • EVA midsole provides comfort and cushion
  • Wide platform for stability on variable terrain
  • 4.5mm drop encourages a natural and efficient stride
  • Lace closure lets you dial in a precise fit

Love these shoes!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 10

I was given my Hoka One One Speedgoat 2 shoes from Backcountry, but the below review is my personal opinion:

I have been running with them for about a month now. I have used them for trail running, on dry rock and dirt, and road running. They also do very well on wet, slippery terrain.

The shoes are true to fit. However, if you have wide feet, they can be a little tight.

They are very durable and high quality. I haven't seen any damage despite running on some tough rock and kicking into things on the trail.

Overall, the Speedgoat 2 has exceeded my expectations! Great product for fast and light running...

Love these shoes!

omg shoes

I used to run only with the Brooks Cascadia and these Hoka’s are my new favorite. A good amount of cushion for longer runs and they are surprisingly light on your feet. This is my second pair of the speedgoat model and I think they run a little wider than most shoes out of the box and are very true to size.

    All you need..

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

For longer runs, I am usually always reaching for these. The fit is perfect and they keep my legs fresh. They have held up pretty well despite some hard runs on talus and scree fields. True to size.

Fast, responsive, and comfortable were not my initial thoughts before putting these on, and I am glad I was wrong. The rocker profile of the Speedgoat 2 helps initiating each steep super easy, as soon as your foot hits the ground its ready to go again. I have taken these on roads, easy trail runs, long hikes, and technical steep runs and have been overall very impressed. The stack height does take a little bit to get used to, but after about a mile my feet go used to the height mostly due to the wide and extra grippy sole platform. The fit was perfect in an 11 for me, I have narrow feet. If you have wide feet SIZE UP as these do run a bit narrow. I tried the 11.5 and they were perfect for 15 plus trail miles. Despite the lack of any rock protection, the high cushion didnt let anything poke through but was still able to maintain a responsive ride. The only improvements I would make to the Speedgoat 2 would be the breathability, over 75 degrees and my feet couldn't breathe at all (which is about the hottest I will trail run anyway). The speed goats really shine in my eyes on technical descents, I was very confident in the grip and cushion to really push the envelope. The heel to toe drop felt about perfect for uphill runs. Overall I am stoked on these shoes and would recommend them for anyone looking to push long technical mountain runs to long walks on the beach.

    Ready for Anything

These are the perfect distance shoe for any terrain. Super light, the upper is breathable and comfortable, they are surprisingly nimble, the outsole is aggressive without being too aggressive, and the cushioning makes for happy joints and feet after putting on the miles. After a couple weeks in these, I have not found anything I don't like about them. I think the drop is pretty ideal and the Balance Meta-Stage Geometry creates energy in the right way. Fit wise, they are true to size with a slightly wider toe box. The mid foot and heel are just right and the lacing creates a snug and comfortable fit. Love them and i'll be rotating between these(for distance) and the Brooks PureGrit this summer. Stoked!

Hoka makes great running shoes. I am 6'5'' 230 and run about 50/50 road/trail. These have lots of support and stability and protect my lack of an arch.

    The best running shoes ever!

I am a casual runner about 20 miles a week but even wearing them at work on concrete all day my feet never hurt at the end of the day. Hoka's are simply the best!
