Hincapie's new Power Tour Vest is the ideal core layer for all of your late and early season rides. Its lightweight and packable composition stays out of the way when it isn't needed, yet it quickly jumps into action when called upon.
The Power Tour was constructed using a blend of Advanced LTX Wind Repel, RegulatorTek with ThermoCool, and TempoMesh. We understand that this sounds more in tune with an owner's manual than a vest, and granted, what's really important is what the fabrics do. Using a four-way stretch polyester, the Advanced LTX Wind Repel was incorporated by Hincapie because of its ability to conform to the shape and movements of the body. It also doesn't hurt that the fabric is wind-resistant and has been given both hydrophyllic and hydrophobic treatments, either. What does this mean? Well, the hydrophyllic treatment has been applied to the inner-lining of the vest to wick moisture away from the body, while the hydrophobic treatment repels water from the outside of vest.
On the issue of comfort, Hincapie used a micro-sanded interior finish to ensure a soft-to-the-touch contact with the skin. Furthermore, the vest's ThermoCool yarn keeps a consistent internal temperature. The yarn adapts to your core temperature by both buffering and evaporating moisture. For ventilation, the TempoMesh inserts throughout the vest let hot air escape without letting cold air in. Additionally, this fabric has been strategically placed in order to provide stretch in heavy articulation areas.
For complete protection from the elements, Hincapie included a tall, weather-resistant collar as well as a protective hem and arm openings. To secure and transport your valuables and ride essentials, the vest includes three rear cargo pockets. Hincapie has also integrated reflective accents throughout the vest for a touch of added visibility to motorists in low-light conditions.
The Hincapie Power Tour Vest - Men's is available in six sizes from X-Small to XX-Large and in the colors Black and Red.
- Q & A
Good quality vest
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: Med
i like the fit of hincapie gear and good quality. this vest works well for me from 50-65. I have a heavier gore vest for 40's. Folds up well in the back pocket when it warms up. breaths well also. Dual zipper is a nice feature.
Great for specific conditions
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
This is my first vest, and I definitely like it. It provides great water resistance, warmth, has awesome rear pockets and ventilation for colder/ moist days. The zipper is quite nice, and zipping up from the bottom is a nice feature. The collar is a little taller than I'd prefer, but I'll get used to it.
I think this is a great vest for days that you know will stay on the colder/ wetter side. However, I would probably leave the vest at home and suffer through potential cold at the beginning of my rides since it doesn't pack down that small (It'll fit into a pocket, but I don't like big things in my pockets) and might be a little too warm for later in the day.
Will this vest pack down small enough to fit in a jersey pocket (size medium)?
Great Fall season vest
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Excellent quality. Material stretches to provide a form, but not tight fit. Very comfortable. The vest breathes through the back so you don't overheat. Great for 55-65 degree days in the Fall with just a jersey underneath. Plenty of room to layer underneath for colder days. At half off list, it's a steal!
