    Tracton givers

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Full Disclosure - I'm an Outdoor Industry Sales Rep that sells to Backcountry- I recently started working with Hillsound. In keeping with the Backcountry.com Mantra "we use the gear we sell", I have a pair of these for personal use.

Last night we received about 17" at our house outside of Evergreen Colorado. I went out to run the snowblower on the steep and long driveway this morning all bundled up in full gear, Snow boots included. The snow was almost too much for the snowblower, and once I got down the pavement level there was a layer of ice from the warm pavement the day before. I was slipping like crazy and leaning on the snowblower to keep from falling.
I grabbed the Freestep 6's and slid the rubber part over the toe cap of my boot very easily. I had enough traction to push on the snowblower enough that the tires would not slip and was able to power up the driveway. This is an amazing underrated product that should be in everyone's winter quiver. It made the difference in getting the job done. Thanks Hillsound for making a quality product that works well - I will be selling this product with 100% confidence.

    Great piece of gear

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought these for upcoming fall/winter hikes. I got to use them for the first time a few days ago & they were perfect. Easy on, even with cold fingers. The metal toe guide helped set them correctly. Didn't budge once they were on & they felt very secure on my foot. Wore them for a three peak ridge traverse in a few inches of snow + packed ice, including some snowy rock and they were great. Very lightweight, just clipped them with a carabiner to my pack. I'll be using them for hikes and shoveling.

Thanks for the sweet review! Have fun using them this season.

    Easy on, good grip

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are easy to take on and off. They're also very light and packable, so you can stash them in your backpack when you're headed out for a hike and unsure of the conditions. These are great for walking around the neighborhood on icy roads or a hike on icy/snowy surfaces that aren't deep.

    Good on and off trail

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are my go-to's for icy in-town running.

    Grab and go!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

They're so packable and easy to carry - I have it hanging in my garage, and I grab it whenever I'm going on a hike or if it's icy outside. These are my emergency crampons that I keep in my pack in case I run into any snowfields. They're so light that I'm not too bothered by them sitting in my pack year round. Perfect for shoveling my driveway too!

    easy and low profile

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I used it many times on my hikes and it does its job well. It works great on any light trails that I have done. I like the fact that the spikes are minimal profile so I don't feel any pressure points under my foot.

    Great Value for the Money

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This product is one of my go-to items for anywhere that needs some kind of traction. Spikes work quite nicely on the ice and muddy terrain. I wear US9 shoes and it fits perfect. I think the rubber is a bit too hard to put on, but if you get used to it, I think it is fine, but I would love to have something that is a bit more soft and elasticated.
