Deny your fate.

While clumsiness may seem to be a trend in your life, it's about time you said goodbye to those all-too-frequent yard sales that seemingly plague your water-based adventures and say hello to the Hala Fame Stand-Up Paddleboard—also known as high, wide, and ready for wherever the water takes you. The Fame is crafted specifically for stability with a big platform design that reigns over a class that's unique to big-buddy boards. It caters in turn to fishing endeavors, adaptive paddling, whitewater tom-foolery, or hauling people or gear.

Equipped with a rugged PVC drop-stitch construction, extra handles for an additional frequent flyer, and fifteen reinforced D-rings, the Fame is furnished with a full-length traction pad that keeps you upright on an extra girthy platform for maximum stability without compromising performance. In addition to its strength and support, the Fame is built to adapt to your every adventure with its Performance Shape Inflatable composition, which ultimately offers a precise rocker and a playful mood. For days that you're not on the river or lake, the Fame comes complete with inflatable fin protectors, a gummy fin, board bag-pack, repair kit, car pump and dual-action, gauged hand pump.

Stable Mable

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My first SUP. This board is HUGE. People marvel at it's size when I'm inflating it.

I wanted something insanely stable because I'm new and want to use this for rivers (mellow ones), and big enough that I could haul enough gear for an overnight trip, including a small cooler.

Initial lake excursions have been a lot of fun. You can pile a couple extra people on board if you're just out for fun.

And in shallow rivers it's nice to remove the large fin, but still have the little gummy fins.

I'm using the Werner Zen 95 two piece paddle, and it's great so far (thought I have little to compare it to). I might look into the 3 piece that the last review mentioned so I can store it in the same bag.

Do-It-All Inflatable Board

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Hala Fame board is easily one of the best and most versatile inflatable SUPs available today. It is made of the same materials in whitewater rafts, so it can go anywhere from a raging whitewater river to the ocean to calm glassy lakes. It has tons of tie down points for strapping your cooler, dry bags, and other gear. It also has a big rocker on the front to be stable in waves or whitewater. I was surprised to see how fast it is, as well. It comes in a nice bag with the nicest/fastest pump I've seen in in an inflatable SUP. Additionally, it comes with a car pump that you can use until the it gets firm, then you need to use the pump in single output mode to get it up to 15 PSI. I've been glad that that is an option, but I don't usually inflate it at my car, so I pack an air mattress pump and leave that one at home usually. It is a great idea, though! You may or may not be able to see it in the picture, but the board also has a raised box on the back of the board to stabilize yourself when riding whitewater, big waves or reeling in a big fish.

One thing to note is that it does not come with a paddle, so you will have to purchase one separately. I use the 3 piece Werner Zen 95 and it fits perfectly in the bag and works great with it. It also has Railblaza mount compatability where you can mount fishing rods, your cell phone, a goPro, and several other things. Google Railblaza Mounts for more details. It is great for fishing because of its stability, options for rod mounts, tie down points, and the fact that it has a gray bottom that would be much more difficult for fish to see.

I highly recommend this board and if you are looking for a top of the line inflatable board that you can take anywhere and do anything with, this one should definitely be considered.

Beast on the water!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Right from the first time I launched this board I knew it was going to be something special. The width of this board is perfect to haul a ton of gear, fishing deck, yoga, or have a passenger tagalong. It eats up flat lakes, river, whitewater, and big lakes like Lake Superior (3-5 foot waves). It is almost a challenge to fall off and not actually land on the board. Great for the whole family! - I would upload a photo but mine are all to large..

This was my Gateway Board:)

In 2015, I was introduced to stand up paddling. This board is so stable when learning how to Stand Up on Rivers. With its inflatable construction and wide platform, it makes it easy to navigate rapids standing or on your knees. Since then, I have seen it as an all-around great family board. On lakes, you can put multiple kids and parents and go for leisurely cruises. For the multiday adventurer, you can send it self-support. This is a great beginning to the wonderful world of SUP.
