The Haglöfs Rugged Mountain Pant lives up to its name with a technical design that promotes freedom of movement while still protecting against the weather and rocks we come across on alpine mountaineering missions. Climatic fabric is highly durable, stretchy, and water-resistant, and the seat and knees boast stretchier FlexAble softshell panels with highly waterproof, breathable protection found in Haglöfs ski apparel. Also like ski pants, the thigh zippers amplify airflow on the ascent. There are hooks that attach to gaiters for complete coverage.

Really well made....
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
These seem excellent for their intended purpose, 24/7 mountain pants. Only problem is I'm solid 30" waist on pretty much all brands, but these were not even close. More like a 28". 5 stars for everything but the waist.

My new favorite cool weather pant!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
After finding the first pair (M) a little snug. I found the Large size fit perfectly. They look sharp and feel great both around town and out on the trail. Love the leg vents on warmer days, and the cargo pockets are well placed. I do wish the phone sleeve was a little bigger, although I was able to stretch it out a bit. So good, that I brought another pair as a spare.

Best Winter Mountaineering Pants.
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Have had these a month now and have done over 33,000? vertical of winter climbing wearing them. They are the most comfortable, quiet, bulletproof winter climbing apparel I have ever owned. Invaluable on a cold hard climb. I honestly didn?t think I would never use the ventilation zips on the sides of the thighs. Thought they were a kind of a gimmick; a vulnerability; something else to break/freeze and go wrong, but they are actually brilliant on a long hard climb. Expensive pants. I don?t think I would have had the stones to pony up for these, if it hadn?t been for my Summit Club credits. So glad I got them. Will last for many many years.

Fantastic Pants

Excellent fit and very comfortable. The material is heavy and rugged. Water resistance and warmth is perfect for the Pacific Northwest fall/winter hiking. Size medium/regular fit perfectly around my 5' 9" 175 lb frame.

Great Pant - Strange Fit
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
These were everything I hoped for in terms of design, features and quality. You wont be disappointed on that front. However I'm 6'3", weigh 180, and have a 36 waist or so. Normally I am in between a large and an XL when it comes to pants. I got the XL because I believed the reviews that said the pants run a bit small and I don't mind baggy for hiking. So the waist is a bit large but I can manage it with a belt but at the same time the thighs and butt are a bit tight. What the heck? I'm keeping the pants because they are close enough and love the design but I'm not sure what kind of body these are intended to fit.

So Sad, Slightly tight on waist
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
Received these pants and they looked so awesome. I wanted to make them fit so much, but they were slightly tight in the waist. This is before being able to make any adjustment to the waist strap. I was hoping they would come in slightly wider and be able to make fine adjustment for my waist size but that was not the case. I had bought the Large 36.6 and was surprised they didn't fit. Am I getting fat in my old age? Anyone who fits these pants well is the lucky person since these pants look they would be so awesome. I returned then and as always Back Country took good care of me.

Nice pants
- Familiarity:
- I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
got this for my boyfriend and it was almost perfect- seems to run kind of small on the waist. I had ordered the M for him but it was tight on the waist but perfect for length so we returned it to get a L (still waiting for shipment). However, the pants are great in terms of having waist tightened straps and straps at the bottom of pants to tighten and lots of pockets. Heavy material that seems like its more for winter hiking or mountaineering. Will be testing this once received in Seattle area!
