    Coffee snob approved!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love this so much already. I've used it three days in a row now and I love how simple it is, keeps the grounds separated from my coffee and it is so easy to clean!

Best french press coffee on the go

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This portable and individual french press mug is five stars. It works like a charm and is easy. I also own a bodum french press portable mug and this is far superior. The design doesn't allow for any of the coffee grounds to escape and the heat saving sleeve keeps your drink nice and hot or cold. Haven't used this yet for loose leaf tea but imagine it would also work well. Highly recommend"

THis thing is rad! I can make coffee or Mate in it. The only thing I would improve is how well it pours into a cup. I like to make my brews then pour into a cup. I cant pour this press without dripping a little.

    Gave as a gift

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

The recipient seemed to love it. Tried it out immediately with great results

This thing works and is a great concept, but it is prone to leaking if the seal is not exact. It's great for traveling and backpacking in a bind, though honestly from now on I'm going to travel with a smaller french press and pour into a bottle separately since this seemed to cause more problems than expected. At least it's easy to clean and use, though be aware of it's ability to leak.

Still a great concept but I feel that it needs to be honed in and perfected

      This crap

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a terrible product that vacuum seals itself half way in your 30 day trip

      Coffee incoming

Coffee makes everything better, this let's you drink your daily cup of joe no matter the conditions. Nice little camping essential.

After a few uses started to leak when you push it down, friends also did the same thing

        Coffee here, coffee there

I love my coffee. I need my coffee. This thing delivers. So simple and absolutely worth the space and weight on my backpacking trips. Works wonderfully. My buddies are always jealous when Im sipping a fresh cup of Joe in the back country. I even use it in the office when I'm needing an afternoon boost and I don't want to drink the garbage coffee in the break room. Just make sure your coffee is custom ground for a press and youll be in business.

great for camping trips and backpacking trips.
Also good to make coffee in the mornings if you want to go that extra mile

Perfect Gift for a Coffee Enthusiast

            • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I picked this up as a gift for my brother. He has said nothing but good things about the quality of coffee and how easy it is to clean up.

            Fresh coffe everywhere.

Now if they can release an espresso version! ;)
Happy to hear you love it!

This is great for camping and for just when you are on the go! Easy to use, easy to clean

            Mean muggin'

            • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought this as a gift, and unfortunately, it was a not a good one. Here's what my friend had to say ,"I was actually pretty disappointed with this mug. I was really excited to stick some grounds in the bottom of my mug and head out the door but after a few tries, I've stopped using it altogether. The idea is fantastic but the design is a little flawed. Everything is great except that multiple times when I've gone to take a sip it dribbled all over the front of my shirt. I didn't say anything and let my boyfriend take it to work one day (wasn't malicious; just thought I was a klutz and he'd have better luck) but he complained of the same thing! Maybe we just drink coffee too fast? I'm not sure but I'm pretty bummed about this one."

            Great for Backpacking

            • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I took this with me on a backpacking trip it work Great. It does tend to leak if not perfectly tightened. Sometimes the coffee leaks when you press it down, but overall a great backpacking coffee press!

            Leaky But Still Good

            • Familiarity: I've used it several times

            What I like:
            - Definitely makes coffee easy at the campsite with minimal parts (i.e., french press and mug in one)
            - Lightweight and not bulky (again, all-in-one design)

            What I don't like:
            - Sometimes the inner cup — which you press down in order to trap the grounds at the bottom between the two layers — doesn't make a perfect seal, and you get coffee leaking out the side when you go to pour it
            - Sometimes coffee leaks up between the two cup layers as you're pushing the inner layer down

Is it worth $23? I don't know. Maybe. I'm not returning it, but I would ideally expect more from a setup like this.

Thank you for your review, Laralyn. It's so helpful for our community. The GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Commuter Java Press is a great alternative.

            Coffee + Camping <3

            • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love love love this coffee mug that was actually recommended to me by my Gearhead (Jen T). The first time I went camping without coffee, it was a disaster, and so I quickly picked this guy up. I was a little apprehensive after reading the reviews, but I have yet to be disappointed.

When brewing, I will usually add 2-3 tablespoons of coarse ground coffee, and then boil about 1 cup of water. When I pour the hot water in I leave about 1 inch of room from the very top. After 3-4 minutes I put the inner cup in and press down slowly. I haven't had any issues with hot coffee spurting back up at me or with it overfilling or leaking this way.

A couple things to note is that this really isn't made to be tipped over like a Contigo is (my daily commuter mug when not in the back country). I tipped it over once and coffee was spilled everywhere. Also, I tried carrying the mug while on a easy hike by holding the little black handle on the side of the lid, but this slowly pulled out the inner cup out as I was walking. So really, it's meant just to be held on the fabric part as a cup. Regardless of these minor things, I don't regret this purchase and am SO glad my gearhead recommended this.

I recently took a photography class through the University of Utah and my professor (Lane Peters @lane_peters_multimedia) shot this photo of me enjoying my morning coffee while waiting for the sun to rise at Capitol Reef NP. Thanks GSI Outdoors for making a great mug!

            Mini Amazing French Press

            • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I took this on a camping trip up to the Uintas, the fast and delicious hot coffee that it made was absolutely perfect for the 45 degree mornings. The only thing I would have changed is how long it stays super hot. For the price it doesn't get much better than this! If you are a coffee person this will be your morning go to.

            Mini Amazing French Press

            • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have used the cup 4 times now since I received it and works perfectly with normal ground coffee. Easy to clean and very easy to use

            Makes great coffee!

            • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I was not disappointed! This java press is easy to use (once you get the hang of it), and makes great coffee! Using regular ground coffee I did notice some grounds at the bottom of my cup. Using a coarser ground coffee fixed that issue though! As some other reviewers noted, instructions would have been helpful. If you add too much water it can leak when you pour the coffee out, and if you press the inside cup down too far it gets stuck (and is very hard to get out!) After a couple trial and errors though, I got the technique down and now can make a great cup of coffee in just a few minutes!

Thanks for the review Mackenzie! Super helpful to get this feedback out to the community.
