Take a walk on the wild side.

When you'd rather explore high mountain trails, desert canyons, and hidden lakes tucked away in the woods than spend a weekend walking department store aisles and mall hallways, then load up the Granite Gear Lusten 35 Backpack and get outside. One of the newest packs in Granite Gear's lineup, the Lutsen features the Refit adjustable torso length and hip belt, which allows you to quickly and easily customize the size of the pack to match your torso size. The zippered top-loading design grants easy access into the main compartment of the pack, while the stretch mesh side and front pockets offer additional storage space for water bottles, extra layers, and whatever else you might need access while you're on the move. The Lutsen is made with durable nylon fabrics that have been treated with a DWR finish to repel light precip and all zippers on the pack are highly water resistant, so you can be sure a little afternoon sprinkle won't get your gear wet.

Great giant daypack.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This pack is perfect as a large daypack. The capacity is plenty for carrying a puffy and extra gear, food or water. The comfort and easily adjustable suspension leave nothing to be desired. This thing is perfect! It does run slightly small. Normally the S/M would cover me at 17", but adjusting the S/M above 16" results in the shoulder straps and loader lifters ending up higher than the body of the pack. If you're close to 17" or 18", I would recommend sizing up.

Good Small Pack

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

If you're looking for either a fast and light 1-3 night pack, or a luxuriously spacious day pack, this thing is pretty solid. For strictly 1 nighters I'd say it's the perfect amount of space. Can definitely be pushed to several nights if you have the right gear and pack wisely, but prepare for sacrifice.

It's also pretty great for long day hikes if you need to carry a significant amount of layers, food, etc., but definitely overkill for anything under a half day.

Quality and comfort are great. The features are pretty simple, but everything you would want and expect. The stretchy front pocket is great for throwing stuff you want easy access to.

    How to Measure:
To find your torso length, measure the distance between your seventh cervical vertebra and the crest of your hipbones. Do this by standing up straight with your feet shoulder-width apart. Tilt your head forward and place your hands on your hips, thumbs to the back and level with your hip crest. With a flexible tape, have someone measure from the most prominent vertebra at the base of your neck to an imaginary line drawn between your thumbs. This will be your torso length.
