Cheap velcro enclosure, runs large
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Out of the box these looked like oversized plastic bags over my shoes- but I thought as long as they keep me dry I guess I'll live with the bizarre fit. I fastened the velcro enclosure as tight as I could around my calf (wearing leg warmers) and rode for 25 minutes in light to medium NYC rain. I had to ring out my socks as if I'd not used a shoe cover at all. Throughout the entire ride I could feel the water coming in through the top. It's obvious that the oversized nature of the product, combined with the cheap velco enclosure and lack of stretch in the fabric make it impossible to get a good seal.
These were meant to replace my 15 year old no-name $25 neoprene covers- which are still intact but come loose given the age of the velcro. But for 14 of those years they kept my feet dry and warm in all kinds of crazy conditions. Bottom line- find a neoprene product with a zipper, if anyone makes it.
Also, there is no insulating liner in these as advertised. Do the copywriters even touch these products before writing about them?
