Gore Running WearOne Gore-Tex Active Jacket - Men's

Smile, it's raining.

Despite popular belief, there are times that you pray for rain on your runs, but only if you're confident in the reliability of your gear. Luckily, you have the Gore Running Wear Men's One Gore-Tex Active Jacket, which means that rather than worrying about arriving at your destination drenched, you can enjoy the rain-enhanced colors and scents as you run along forest trails.

The One Gore-Tex Active Jacket features an innovative design that eliminates the face fabric to prevent the absorption of water to keep you light on your toes throughout long runs. This places the Gore-Tex membrane on the outside of the jacket where it can more effectively seal out water and wind while remaining breathable to cut back on sweat accumulation during high-intensity runs. The lightest waterproof, windproof, and breathable Gore-Tex product available, the One Gore-Tex Active Jacket offers unbeatable weather protection with a barely there feel, so you're free to enjoy those surreal moments alone in the rain.

  • A highly breathable rain jacket designed for trail running
  • The lightest waterpoof and windproof Gore-Tex product available
  • Membrane construction eliminates face fabric for a Shake Dry surface
  • Close-fitting hood with elastic binding
  • Zippered Napoleon pocket doubles as a stow-away pocket
  • Reflective logos on front, back, and sleeve

Stealing this from my boyfriend

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

This jacket is awesome and Backcountry doesn't carry it in womens so I'm constantly stealing my boyfriends. I have a couple of rain jackets that I run in but they've always just been okay... They get the job done but they're not exactly enjoyable to run in. Most rain jackets are way too warm for running and the crinkly waterproof fabric is loud and obnoxious. This jacket isn't like that at all. It's not crinkly, it's not too warm and it's soft against your skin if you want to wear a tank top or short sleeve underneath. My previous rain jackets weren't very compactable either. This one packs down smaller than an avocado which is great for long runs or trail runs with a pack. Or, for hikers who want a super light emergency rain jacket. I recommend this jacket to anyone who lives somewhere with rainy spring weather and still wants to get outside regardless of the precipitation. The men's small fits pretty well actually!

SHAKEDRY, HOW HARD DO YOU HAVE TO SHAKE?

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

THE PROS:
-light
-somewhat warm in cold temperature
-repels light rain
-looks alright

THE CONS:
-color is not black as advertised but brown
-after a run in light rain, the jacket was wet. I tried to "shake dry" but it did not shake dry. It was still wet.

Overall it may be still be worthwhile purely based on its looks if you like brown that is.
I am somewhat dismayed by the fact that Gore's primary selling point of this product at a premium price as "shakedry" with "Active Gore-Tex" on the sleeve. The jacket did not perform any better than any lower priced jackets at a fraction of the cost.

Multi-sport good for everything "active"

This is the best all around running/cycling/hiking jacket that I have every worn. I have worn this both on colder days and also on rainy days and it works great for both. Similar to what you would see with merino wool; when you sweat you will notice that the material allow this to push through and away from your skin. I have never been "too warm" in this when I have gotten the base layers right underneath. As mentioned above there are only two things I would change: 1. add a chest pocket stash system (it is still possible to stuff in the chest pocket and carry, but the zipper is tough to get undone) 2: a hood stash system. I have run into warmer/windy days where I want a jacket but not the hood and have to just roll the hood inside the neck of the jacket. It actually works fairly well, but a stash would be helpful.

It would be very tough to go wrong with this jacket and although a high price point... If you want the best here it is, I doubt you will dread the price after your first run in it.

Best running jacket - raining or not

I've been using the One Gore-Tex Active Jacket everyday for a couple of weeks now for mid-autumn early morning runs. I've used this for short and easy recovery runs, to fast paced runs and long runs.

Right after the first time I used it, it was apparent that this jacket is pretty special. It's crazy light, great fit, windproof, waterproof and most of all it's breathable.

The difference in breathability compared to my next best running jacket (Patagonia Torrentshell) is immense. In conditions where my other jacket would be all drenched inside, the One Gore-Tex Active Jacket would be dry. (see my video)

I have compared using it with a long sleeved technical baselayer vs a plain running t-shirt (with the skin of my arms right next to the jacket), and either way the moisture doesn't build up inside. It doesn't seem to matter too even if you're running in moderate temperatures (around 17-18 degrees C) and/or high humidity. The jacket remains to keep you dry inside.

Very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to any serious runner who wants a high performance jacket.

This is hands down the best active rain layer ever made, and I've used a TON of different shells on the trail. I got this jacket primarily for trail/ultra runs. I pump out heat and run on the warm side, so needed a jacket that sheds the heat while still keeping me dry from the elements. I took the Gore One out for a 10 miler in temps around low 40's and it performed wonderfully.

My favorite things about the Gore One - Stupid light, I believe it's the lightest and most breathable fully waterproof goretex available. It's so quiet! Unlike many other rain jackets I've used which make that crinkle sound, this thing is silent but deadly. Another favorite feature is the hood. It doesn't have a drawstring but as long as you are wearing a hat it wraps around your head perfectly.

I know this thing is on the pricey side for a minimal shell, but it's worth every penny for function.

I'll post up another update once I put a few hundred miles in this bad boy.

Light, dry.

This is incredible. Light, fast, dry. #WIN. I am super impressed. This jacket has the lightest face feel I have ever experienced in jacket, and for running, you can't beat this. True runner fit, so if you are a slim guy, try the same size you always get, if you're normal every-man kind of guy, think about going up one.

Light, dry.

Killer. Might have to pick one up for myself soon!
