Gore Bike WearPower AS Vest - Women's

Modern day cycling classic.

There are times when you just need a wind-blocking vest. Think fast descending, cool mornings, or really any time that you need more protection than your jersey provides, but where a full-on rain jacket just isn’t practical. So, thanks to its ease of storage and legendary WindStopper fabric, the Gore Bike Wear Power AS Women’s Vest will be there for you when you need it most.

Gore’s WindStopper is renowned for its supreme wind- and weather-blocking abilities, as well as its breathability. In other words, while it stops wind from cutting though, and blocks out most precip, the construction of the fabric lends itself to pulling moisture from the inside and transporting it to the surface where it can evaporate. There are stretch inserts, too, which work in conjunction with the contoured cut to keep the Power vest from pulling when you change positions.

To make packing the Power vest easier, Gore included a stow pocket at the back. It compresses the vest to a size that will easily fit into your jersey pocket for quick access when the wind picks up. And to enhance your visibility to drivers, there are reflective accents throughout.

The Gore Bike Wear Power AS Vest - Women's  is available in six sizes, from X-Small to XX-Large, and in the colors Black, Rich Red, and Waterfall Blue.

I love this vest!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I got this west in fall and have been wearing it at almost every bike ride since then. It feels never hot wearing it, even on days that are already pretty warm. You just zip it open and the back of the vest has a special fabric that is very breathable. On cold rides it's just perfect. Doesn't let any wind through. I got it in blue and it looks super cool!

No bulk, lots of warmth.

My wife and I both have Power AS vests. They are great for rides where the temperature conditions will change throughout the ride. If we leave early on a cool morning we will start with our vests on. Once it warms out we can open the vest or stuff it in a jersey pocket. It is so light you barely notice it. It's also windproof so its nice to throw on for a mountain decent. In short its incredibly light, windproof and breathable. Its a great piece to round out your layering system.

Great concept

Ahhhhh this vest. I had been wanting it for a long time, and finally took the plunge. I have to admit, I was expecting something much more substantial. Maybe this is because I'm more used to the Windstopper SoftShell as opposed to the ActiveShell, but I really didn't expect this vest to be as thin and light as it was when I took it out of the package. If the thing weighs 4 oz, I'd be surprised. They didn't exaggerate in the description when they said it can easily roll and fold into your jersey pocket, because it surely can. I do really love the stretch inserts. Without them, I think this would have been really weird fitting. Overall, I'm sure this vest will do the job for late summer, fall, and spring, but I will definitely need to purchase something more substantial for the winter months.

The Power AS Vest has a more relaxed fit than our race focused lines, Oxygen and Xenon, but is still tailored around a cycling specific cut to ensure a fit that is very functional on the bike.

( No flapping in the wind ! )
