Casual cycling style.

While some of us are totally comfortable pedaling the streets and having a post-ride coffee in a pair of lycra shorts, others prefer a little more coverage and style. If you're in the latter group, the Gore Bike Wear Element Skirt is for you. With an athletic skirt profile and built-in supportive shorts with a chamois, this skirt has got you covered from on-the-bike fun to off-the-bike socializing.

The outer skirt is made of a synthetic fabric blend that stretches to move with you and breathes to keep you dry on warm summer rides. It has an elastic edge binding for a clean, soft finish, and a side mesh pocket that's perfect for carrying trail mix or your favorite cookies. The inner shorts have a five-inch inseam and are constructed of a stretchy and durable synthetic fabric blend for a compressive yet comfy fit. Gripper elastic at the leg hems keep everything in place so you can focus on the ride and the scenery without any uncomfortable fabric bunching.

The Element Skirt comes with GORE's Element Women's chamois, designed specifically for female physiology and made of microfiber fabric to keep you dry and comfy on rides of up to about two hours. As an added bonus, a reflective logo and reflective piping on the sides of the skirt increase your visibility to motorists in low-light conditions.

tight waistband

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

I'm a M in pretty much everything (size 8), but ordered this in a L for some extra room...it was very tight and unflattering in the waist, and the skirt fabric bunched up under the waistband (I do not have big hips). Not my favorite - can't imagine it fitting someone who usually wears a L very well.
