Next-level protection for aspiring rippers.

The Giro Kids' Crue MIPS Helmet protects up-and-coming rippers from nasty spills on the mountain with its hardshell construction paired with MIPS technology. Upgraded over traditional helmets, MIPS uses an elastomeric liner that mimics a slip plane, allowing the helmet to independently rotate around your child's head for reduced trauma in a crash. This technology is especially important, as most crashes don't happen straight-on, instead occurring at an oblique angle.

Not only is the Crue highly protective, but just as important for picky kids, it sports a stylish look and low-profile fit on the mountain. This means they'll actually want to wear it, instead of ditching it at home or leaving it in the car. Removable ear pads seal in extra warmth, also accommodating aftermarket audio from Outdoor Tech for jamming on the mountain. The Auto Loc 2 fit system provides a fine-tuned fit, so it's not sliding around at high speeds. Other key features include a removable goggle clip, Super Cool Vents, and seamless compatibility with Giro Kids' Goggles.

Great Kids Helmet

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My one year-old has a ginormous head for his age (about 18.5") so the XS works for him. Everything is as pictured and described. Great helmet!

Perfect Helmet

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

We ordered a medium for my 9 year old (almost 10). Perfect fit...worried that the medium might run big, but it was just the right size and the chin strap is adjustable. Thought we wanted the shiny helmet, but the matte looks much better.

Does this helmet have a dial to adjust for fine tuning the fit?

Hey Chris,

great question!

This helmet uses Giro's twostep lock system.

The self-adjusting fit system in the front of the helmet is designed to take the hassle out of fitting kids’ helmets. It combines a supple, elastic fit band with fixed-position straps that automatically adjusts to fit the child and helps to keep the helmet properly positioned.

The second step is the vertical dial on the back of the helmet which can be adjusted to accommodate any potential gap between the helmet and the goggles.

So to answer your question, it does not have the typical dial system you would find in most adult helmets, but most parents actually prefer this system for children instead as it's a lot easier to properly fit to the child and also helps ensure the helmet is properly positioned.

Let me know if I can help get your mini shredder in this awesome helmet and compatible pair of kid's goggles!
