Refined riding.

You've tried bib shorts, and for whatever reasons, have found that they aren't for you. Though you'd rather enjoy the freedom of regular shorts when you ride, your choices shouldn't be limited to entry-level kit. Giordana realizes this, and it graced the Lungo Short with the same elegant details and high-end construction as its bib short cousin — minus the restrictive bibs.

Giordana reworked its classification of product lines for this year, defining the Lungo collection as ideal for the "refined" rider. It took characteristics from its race-oriented Forma Red Carbon line and applied them to riders unwilling to compromise on impeccable fit, craftsmanship, and materials, but who don't find themselves requiring an aero-race kit and allover compression on their weekend rides.

The Lungo Short consists of a soft, silky fabric sourced from the swim and undergarment industry, and it comes complete with a few strategically-placed compression zones as well as the durability to withstand long days in the saddle. The short overall employs a supportive, tailored fit not far off from the fit of a more race-ready design, but with the ability to remain comfortable and more forgiving throughout a Gran Fondo or bike tour.

It's hard to look at the Lungo and not notice its wide, supportive waistband, which Giordana constructed using crossover, scooped shaping to provide support that doesn't awkwardly cut-in as you're stretched out over the bars. We've seen other manufacturers borrowing inspiration for waistband design from yoga, and with the Lungo, Giordana flawlessly adapts the design to the needs of cyclists.

The Lungo is lined with Giordana's Cirro chamois, which was updated this year with a slimmer, lower profile design. Still supportive and plush where you need it to be, the Cirro's lithe shape is also breathable and flexible, staying far out of your way when you're pedaling or moving around in the saddle. The fabric's compression helps the legs of the Lungo stay in place as you ride, but Giordana also included generous non-restrictive leg grippers to ensure you don't have to interrupt your ride to readjust creeping hemlines.

Bad fitness

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

They don't fit well.
The waistband does not stay up, realy not comfortable. :(

I love Giordana, but

Didn't love these shorts. I like the fit but I don't like the waistband, felt like they were falling down all the time. There's a difference between having a comfy waistband and having one that doesn't keep your shorts up...

Worth Every Penny

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

Giordana knocked it out of the park on these. Here's a list of everything I love about the Lungo short:
- yoga waistband. say no to bike short muffin top.
- wide band leg grippers. also say no to the dreaded sausage leg!
- reflective accents for added visibility
- fun color options!
- material is lightweight and breathes well

Very flattering fit!

I love these shorts. True to size, nice light fabric. The contours of the shorts are really flattering. I've tried other Giordana shorts and they don't look as good as these

love the waistband

I really loved the design of these, the material is like nothing I've ever seen on cycling short., and the waistband is high enough in the back that you dont get a gap, but also doesnt cut in to your stomach when you are bent over on the bike.
