Carbon/Polypro Long-Sleeve Base Layer

Most of us have chosen the wrong base layer and found ourselves pedaling back home toward the warm fireplace before even breaking a sweat. That's why we recommend the Giordana Heavyweight Carbon Base Layer for winter riding, as it features precise fit, Italian design, and the ability to keep you warm and dry.

  • Heavyweight baselayer keeps you pedaling in frigid winter conditions
  • Synthetic construction is both breathable and moisture-wicking
  • Insulation traps heat even when precipitation puts a damper on things
  • Small presence of spandex in the materials lay-up supplies a formed fit
  • Four-panel design contours to the body under jerseys and jackets

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Medium

The size listed as "S/M" actually comes as "M/L", which worked out great for me. It looks tiny when you take it out of the bag but it has a tremendous amount of stretch to it. It fits tight everywhere for that warm, snug feeling.
For my weekend ride, I wore just this base layer with a summer jersey and wind vest. Temps ranged from about 48-60 F and I was pretty comfortable the whole time. A little chilly on the arms for a 40+ mph descent at 48-50F, and a I did start getting a little warm at the end of the ride as it was sunny and 60. However, this thing continued to breath well and I never felt too sweaty or clammy.
5 stars for sure. Looking forward to trying it at different temps with varying layers to see how wide a range it can cover.

Love it!

After 20 years of road cycling I finally caved in and bought my very first base layer. After 2 rides in this, I have to admit that I've made a huge mistake and regret every one of those years that I haven't owned one. So far I've only ridden in temps between 40-65 degrees F, wearing only this base layer and my regular summer jersey on top. The result is immediately noticeable. The first descent out the door at 6am is actually tolerable. I can ride hard all day and I'm still dry. That means I'm not cold even when I stop. I don't quite understand how this works because I'm a sweat hog.

I'm a featherweight rider (5'7", 138lbs) and bought an XS. The fit is snug everywhere, but the wrists are a tad looser than I would like. Because of this, they tend to creep up my arms wile riding, leaving a 1" gap to my gloves. This will not be an issue with a long-sleeve jersey or arm warmers on top. It seems like other popular brands (like Craft) tend to stop at size S, so I think Giordana is a prime candidate for petite riders who tend to wear size XS garments. The price is reasonable despite being an Italian premium brand.

I do not find the fabric to feel itchy at all, despite wearing it straight out of the packaging. In fact after 150 miles of riding I didn't even notice I had it on at all.

Very nice product. Fits true to size. Keeps you warm as a base layer when combined with a good wind blocking jacket. Great at 20 d F.

6'1" 195lbs, size XL fits perfect.
got it for about $70 here
5 stars. very warm especially into wind, but not hot when standing.
a little more than cheaper brands, but so well-worth it.

Like surrounding yourself in a skin tight fire, that breaths, and is amazing.... It is a tad itchy at first, but goes away after a few washes.
