    Alpinist Plus Universal Skin

Constructed with a universal nylon material that blends reliable grip, efficient glide, weight-savings, and durability, the G3 Alpinist Plus Universal Skin can go anywhere and performs well on all snow. G3's updated adhesive provides dependable stickiness so your skin doesn't fall off, even after multiple laps, and the tip attachment's stiff platform keeps snow from building up between the skin and the ski to compromise the adhesive that way. The self-aligning tip attachment securely fits even the fattest spoons, while the camming tail clip adds tension to hold down the fort. G3 made the tail strap elongated and adjustable for easy removal when it's time to rip skins and hit your epic line.

    Love em

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Picked up these skins this season and so far have been pretty stoked on them! They are plenty grippy and I liked that they come with a cutting tool, skin saver, and a bag! Makes it really easy to set up and really easy to get on and off my skis!

    The plastic tip is weird.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have been generally disappointed with the plastic tip of these skins. There is this white plastic feature that is apparently to keep snow off the skin glue, but on mine it seems to concentrate snow under the plastic, leading to the skin glue getting wet.
The metal clips hold the tip of the ski well, but are difficult to manage with one hand - a the loop tips on my other skins are preferable.
The skins themselves seem to decently adhere to the skis, though if they get wet the glue is done for the day. I had one skin complete glue failure on ridge skin in rounds snow.
The grip is adequate. Doesn't glide super well, which is fine. A bit slippy with icy or powder on skin track, but i guess they all are.
The camming tail clip works very well.
Have toured on these skins 15/20 days so far. Would be nervous about them for a second lap, though I usually do just one.

I had this issue at first but I tightened them as tight as they could go on my skis and the plastic hugged the base so much that no more snow could get stuck under there. Not sure if that helps but maybe worth a try!

    Out for a skin

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Just picked these up for my DPS Wailer's touring setup and I'm totally satisfied with the insane amount of grip that these provide. On slightly icy terrain there was no slippage at all, and I'm very happy with the overall performance of these skins. The best part of these is the tip clips, they center the skin very easily on the ski and don't damage the ski's tip. I'd definitely recommend this skin to anyone looking for a skin to add to their touring set up.

    How to Measure:
You can get maximum skin coverage by choosing a skin that is slightly narrower than the widest part of your ski, and trimming the skin to the sidecut / shape of your ski, as described in the skin instructions. The extra work required to trim will more than make up for itself with the superior grip of a skin with "wall to wall" coverage. Choose a skin that covers your ski base "wall to wall" (edge to edge) about 25cm (10in) back from the ski tip. For example, if the dimensions of your skis are 115-77-105, a pair of 110mm skins will do nicely.
