Medium for me

I'm 5'3", 135lbs, the small fit I chose to keep the Medium, the Medium is a bit long in the arms and in the body but I prefer more room for layers and movement. color is great.

you don't...actually have to be a goat?

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This jacket is perfect. It's been hard to find a coat that keeps me dry inside AND outside of it, looks rad, and actually fits my long torso and long arms without having to size up. flylow NAILED it.

It's roomy enough for me to literally pile on layers without the uncomfortable bunching in the armpits that some women's shells can create, but it's totally non-bulky if you just need a shell; you look steezin either way. bonus: keeps your bum warm.

my first trip out in the billy coat was a resort day in a raging snowstorm and i couldn't be happier with its performance. Despite the crazy wind and wet, heavy snow I was kept astonishingly dry. Totally warm too, with an old patagonia synchilla and hoodie underneath. Even on the lift, man.

Best shell I've ever owned. Totally worth the price...I'd seriously even pay msrp for this coat. If you're tall / long, you run warm, and / or you think lifts are for loosers, this is the jacket for you.

    Not for me

    • Size Bought: Medium

It seems like many women love this jacket but I did not. It was way too stiff and noisy when you moved. Also, I'm 5'3" 127 lbs and I ordered the Med to be able to fit a jacket underneath and I was swimming in the jacket. Lastly, the blue color was brighter than I thought it would be from the picture. The construction did seem to be high quality and it looked very waterproof but I will be returning the jacket.

    FlyLow Does it Best

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I got this as a gift for a friend of mine who spends a ton of time outdoors. She needed a new ski outwear set up that would hold up to lots of use, and could be used in many different ways. Here is her feedback: This is by far the best ski jacket I have ever owned. I've worn it in all types of weather; sleet, wind, blizzard and sunshine. This jacket is super versatile and easy to layer up or down depending on the weather. This jacket is extremely high quality from the fabric construction to the maneuverability it allows. I got this jacket with a pair of FlyLow Nina pants and the combination looks great together, and I have been getting a lot of compliments!

    Just what I wanted!

I love this shell. I bought it both for resort skiing and hiking in the backcountry. The vents are great when heating up. It fits well with room to layer underneath. It also has a longer length which I prefer, especially with ski jackets.
My favorite feature is the powder skirt that snaps into any Flylow pant to create a great snow blocking seal!
I pair my jacket with both the Nina Pant (warmer days and touring) and Daisy Pant (resort)
It has preformed well in snow, rain and wind!

    Best Shell

I bought this coat for my wife. We've been skiing in a variety of conditions and it stands up to wind, rain, and also vents well for warmer days. The coat has plenty of pockets (interior and exterior), with tough, waterproof zippers. It fits well, a little baggy with space for layers, with perfect sleeve length and covers the butt. The Sangria color is really cool too.

    Great jacket!

    Sweet shell!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

    • Size Bought: Large

This coat is my newest stylish shell addition to my fall wardrobe. I'm not sure it will be my go to piece on super stormy days, as I'll likely stick to my Gore-tex for that, but it will be worn a fair amount this coming fall with my commute as well as in the spring with some lighter slushy shred days.

The pockets are nice as well as nicely placed. I'm a big fan of pocket options for all of my things.

    Sweet Shell

    Intro: bought this for skiing

Pros: warm, stylish, room for layers without looking bulky
Cons: powder skirt sometimes feels like it's pulling/twisting coat in strange ways.

    Would buy again.

    Great Shell

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

My new favorite shell for skiing!! It's lightweight yet very warm, great for layering with fleece or a down coat. I really love the colors and pockets too!

    Order size larger

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: large

I suggest ordering a size larger than you normally would as the jacket runs small through the hips. Color is more of a terra cotta color than a true coral color. Returned item and unable to comment on quality of product.

Hey, Im a 5'7" 135 lb female and I'm looking at a new snowboard coat and like a little bigger fit, I ride a Grenade mens Med right now which is comically big, but comfortable to boot. I am looking for something more technical for backcountry and skinning but something that comes low enough for the old snowboarder. I usually shy away from women's due to weird flares and cuts, but I can't read enough good reviews about the billie and the vixen. I was able to find a XS Masala W coat, and liked the cut alot (although a little too small for my taste), it was straighter than most girls coats. However, I have also been looking at the Mens Genious in Med, but not sure if it would be overly big, or the xs in the Quantum. The only coat I have to compare for mens is the stringfellow which runs pretty big in general. If there is any insight to be had please let me know, thanks a ton.

I can't compare this one to the fit on the Men's jackets, but I prefer my jackets larger for mobility too-- I'm 5'4" and 140 lbs, usually a M in tops, and I sized up to a Large for the Billie and LOVE IT. The lady-specific cut on it means that while it's a little oversized, it doesn't look like I'm wearing a dude's coat. Highly recommend. If you want to give it a shot, feel free to reach out- I'd be happy to help. 801-736-6399 or llabar@backcountry.com.

    Hey Backcountry, Great Customer Service!

I just placed my order for this jacket, so I don't have a review on it yet. But I wanted to say that within 20 minutes of placing my order, I got a call from Ethan, who wanted to make sure that all of my questions were answered with regards to my order. He is also sending me an email with his info. for any future questions or return issues. I really appreciate that! I'm sure if this jacket doesn't work, I will be able to find a great substitute. And the previous reviews really helped me make my decision as well. Keep it up!

Hi Elaine! Thanks so much for the review! Hope your day is awesome! Please reach out if you ever need anything!!

Reviews comment that the fabric is burly, but how's it compare to a Patagonia Goretex Shell?? (what I'm familar with, and comparing to). Thanks!

Lisa this Jacket will compare very well to a gore pro membrane. the fabric is a soft weave but very durable. fabric is not as loud as a traditional hardshell. hope that helps.

Cool jacket, but not right for me.

I found this jacket to fit true to size. I am 5-5 130 lbs and ordered the medium. It fit over my size small flylow betty jacket with no problem. I had to return it though. I have a siberian husky and the material of this jacket is a magnet for her hair. It had rough feeling to the material, unlike any other technical shell I've ever owned, and the amount of dog hair it picked up was unbelievable. Trading it in for another jacket.

HaHa. That is great information. I was thinking about getting this jacket for my wife but we have a husky too. We buy clothes specifically to not be a husky hair magnet!

I can't tell you how many jackets my wife tried before settling on this one. She's an avid alpine, side-country, and backcountry skier and wanted something that would work in a wide range of weather conditions, yet something she could hike/tour in without overheating. Her criteria when she was looking for a jacket: (1) hood, (2) underarm vents, (3) good pockets, (4) UNinsulated technical shell, but not TOO thin, (5) fit layers underneath without looking "poofy," (6) stylish cut, and (7) fun color. With all of that criteria, you'd actually be surprised how few jackets actually fit the bill. But this one DID, and my wife really loves it. She wore is skiing every day last year and got lots of compliments on the turquoise color. She tried the small and the medium and ended up going with the medium (even though it is a little long for her) so she could fit layers underneath it.

In the photo, the jacket is the turquoise one on the far right.

      Fit Love

Like I said, I cannot pontificate enough about the FlyLow fit.

It's like they ACTUALLY HAVE A WOMAN designing their women's outerwear. A novel concept, but a rarity in this jaded, jaded world.

      FlyLow Fit is DIALED

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: Runs large

In trying on a few different styles of FlyLow jackets I must say they seem to have their act together in terms of fit. Their styles really flatter a variety of shapes and they really have kind of a different cut than what you come to expect from outerwear.

Subtle details, but they really make a difference.

The fit on this coat is excellent, just enough hourglass to give you shape, but not overly-dramatic or cartoonish. I actually did find it to run a little large. I typically take size small, but the XS was perfect in this model, even layering up underneath.

      I am 5'3" and 120 lbs with a B-cup.

FlyLow advertises this as a backcountry/resort jacket, I personally find it too heavy for AT use because my touring jacket literally weighs about half what this one does. The thick fabric does wonders to protect, and it's really durable, but I don't think it's light enough for big days in the backcountry.

The pit zips are great (could be the tiniest bit longer), but they are functional and easy to use.

SO MANY POCKETS, which is nice.

FlyLow claims you can fit climbing skins inside one of the inner pockets - I did not find this to be true. Again, I really think this is more of a resort jacket than a backcountry jacket. My skins aren't particularly large or bulky, but I couldn't even fit them inside the zipper opening. So that roomy pocket is perfect instead for snacks, phone, ipod, stufffff - just not climbing skins.

Love the color options, the hood on this thing is nearly perfect.

Not too big, not too small, no extra bulk, perfect visibility, absolutely comfortable when completely zipped up. This may be the best hood I've ever used, I'm loving it.

I would absolutely recommend this to a friend.

If your friend is a backcountry mistress who seldom ventures inbounds, keep looking. If your friend is a resort slayer who occasionally ventures into the backcountry, this option is great.

      Perfect fit

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

I love my Billie coat. Flylow re-vamped their women's line and by doing so created some of the best fitting gear I've ever owned. This coat is a super tough shell that perfectly fits a women's figure. It's more of a freeride-length, meaning it's a bit longer, enough to cover your bum. There are plenty of pockets, and they're strategically placed to minimize the look of bulkiness, and to make sure you stay comfortable with packed pockets. This jacket is bomb-proof, though on colder days I recommend layering up with a puffy underneath.

      Perfect fit
