A hard day's work.

Those fallen trees on your property aren’t going to take care of themselves. When Saturday morning rolls around, grab your thermos of black coffee, tuck your trusty axe into the Fjallraven Vidda Pro Men's Trousers, and head out back. Those downed trees will soon be chopped into next year’s heating supply while these high-waist, relaxed-fit pants both look and act the part of a true work pant.

Don’t worry about fixing a fence or climbing onto the barn roof to clean out the gutters either; the Vidda Pro’s rugged, water-resistant main body fabric, reinforced knees, and elastic leg endings adapt it to any amount of work you ask of it. Plus, once you check off your Saturday chores, the Vidda Pro will just as eagerly head into the mountains for some well-deserved hiking. The trousers' wealth of pockets keep your tools and supplies organized so you can enjoy the views or focus on the task at hand.

These are by far the best all-around pants I've ever owned. When I want a little extra to shed the rain I break out my little Burton snowboard iron and wax on like Mr. Miyagi! From bushcrafting to hiking and BWCA canoe trips, these pants have taken all my abuse. Suprisingly, they still look fairly new, despite being washed a million times...let's be real, Mother Nature isn't always kind to our gear. Favorite features: no back pockets and the comfort/ mobility levels are top notch. After a couple years of use, not so much as a thread has come loose. Gator lace hook is a nice bonus, too. Hats off to Fjallraven.

I put my new Fjallravens to the test with a 9 day backpack of Isle Royale. The fit and pockets stand out as especially noteworthy. That, and they held up to constant wear and exposure. I wore them every day and they took it all: lots of brushing against plants on narrow trails, sitting on rocks, logs, and whatever the trail dished out.

My only negative is the temperatures were warmer than expected with many days in the mid-70s and even above 80. In that weather they were too warm so I’d say they are best for below 70 degrees - at least for me.

I bought these pants to upgrade my hiking wardrobe and was able to test them out on a week long trip to Iceland. I prefer men's pants and these fit perfectly for my frame (5'9" athletic build). I wore these pants the entire trip, and they weren't too stiff or too baggy, were flexible with movement, and extremely comfortable. The fabric is relatively light but protective and surprisingly warm. As the weather changes pretty quickly in Iceland, they were tested in rain, sun, 20 MPH winds, and both cold and warmer temps. I definitely plan to buy additional pairs in the future.

The thing that I love most about these rugged G1000 pants is that they are fully waxable. I took them on a 4 day backpacking trip in the mountain ranges of Colorado and even through the dramatic weather changes (people living in CO know the struggle is real), these pants remained trustworthy. I waxed them up before I went knowing I would most likely run into some weather, but I am glad I brought my Greenland Wax with me up the mountain. I added another wax layer while over the campfire, and the next day was ready for the pouring rain. But when the scorching sun came out later that afternoon (told you the weather here is crazy), the pants remained breathable. BUYING AGAIN IN EVERY COLOR.

Amazing Pants

The hydrophilic waterproofing makes them great for winter in the PNW or any other place that has a rainy season. The material has an amazing feel and holds up to rugged use. The waist sizing is based on your true waist size, so if you wear a 32x32 jean you probably have a true waist size of 34. It you can't find a Fjallraven store to try on the fit, measure your waist and don't be vain about your actual waist size if you want one of the most comfortable pants you will find with these kinds of reviews. I have three pairs and I've been rotating through them all winter.

I got the "gray" set this time with black knee zones. As I've gained weight, I've noticed these pants keep feeling tighter! WTF? just joshin'; however, do know that the "gray" in these pants is dark dark charcoal. Almost black. My favorite color scheme so far was "rust" with black knees. Now it's these in gray. If you don't have a butt, maybe you should try getting these pants because they give an optical illusion of having nice gluten. I mean gluten. GLUTES

Thanks for your feedback Jeff!

These Are the REAL DEAL.

Believe the hype on these. I held off on buying for a long time just because I couldn't justify the price tag on a pair of pants and I heard cargo pants were "lame". Guess what? I don't care!! They are functional baby.

Anyways, I could only hold out for so long with all the hype around these pants (I am a gearhead after all) and I'm definitely glad I did. These are hands down the best pants I own. If you're an outdoorsman, you will love these. The pocket storage, forget about it. The construction, double bomber (yep, that's a thing after buying these). The fit, room to move. Favorite feature, the cinch down on the ankles. You can keep these loose are tighten them up to varying degrees and there is a gaiter hook as well... score!

The G-1000 is a nice fabric. If you're going for full-on waterproof, not for you. But they are nicely resistant and dried relatively quickly. Heads up, you'll need to keep up on waxing these every now again if you want them to perform.

As I said, these are the real deal, believe the hype, all that jazz. One of the best pairs of pants I've come across.

that being said, my girlfriend buys $300 pairs of jeans. many people do. this is ACTUALLY a BARGAIN~! or So I tell myself

I've been wanting a pair of these pants for some time but was unsure about spending a lot of money on them. I was definitely impressed from the second I opened the package! They are built incredibly well and fit perfect! Wore them on a hike through Moraine State Park after we got bit of snow and I was not disappointed. Kept me dry and warm. I was able to move freely to climb a waterfall, hurdle over rocks and downed trees with no problems. Definately can't wait to get more use out of them this summer.

    Unanswered Question

How well would these work for climbing? Is the crotch gussetted enough to permit high-steps, and would they be comfortable under a harness?

    Great Trekking Pants!

Picked these up before a trip to Zion/Bryce Canyon in January 2018. These pants are just as study as advertised! Held up over scrambling through slot canyons, kept me warm and dry hiking the narrows even though my dry-suit was leaking, dried off completely in less than 30 minutes. These are now my go-to hiking pants.

While struggling over the years to find a durable pair of pants to last me for everything from causal use to backpacking excursions, the struggle has now ended! The Vidda Pro pants are exactly what I had been needing all these years. The articulated and reinforced knees offer a better range of motion than most pants while ensuring you have a reliable construction when you find yourself randomly on a mountain or other demanding terrain.

Fjallraven's Vidda Pro comes with top performance in both technical build with their G-1000 as well as unique features to help with any adventure you might find yourself on. Reinforced knees and rear will keep those prone to tearing spots whether your scrambling up a slope or just popped a squat on a rock that's too rigid for your previous pant's material build. On top of everything, these epic pants come with an ice axe pocket for your winter adventures that can double as a map pocket, so long as you rolled it tight enough, for every kind of excursion you could want!

The Fjallraven Vidda Pros are so much of the pant I had always been looking for that I bought multiple.... and will likely buy more even if not necessary as the first pair as still trucking along as good as ever!

I love these pants. I have both the vidda pro trousers and the keb trousers. If you are deciding between the two, here are the differences I noticed. These are more rugged and made of more resilient material. Both pants are relatively fitted. They look really good, and fit really well with the angled knee joint. The thing I like about the vidda pro are the doubled materials on the knees and seat, and the number of pockets. I use these pants for general adventuring, camping, hiking, exploring, etc. While I use the keb trousers for mountaineering and trekking as they are lighter and the stretch panels make it more comfortable to walk, climb, and extend my legs.

Overall, they are extremely functional, comfortable, and while not being overly baggy. They look awesome, and are designed well and made of resilient materials.

Used these a few times, so far and they are great. Repels wind pretty well even without a base layer in 20° & 30° weather. stayed petty dry on snowy hikes and snowshoe outings, so far, with the G-1000 proofing. Although if you're out in say a blizzard, or heavy snow, may not be ideal for that, but I would like to see how they fair in that. Love the features on these pants including the gaitor strap and lace hooks. Maybe my go to hiking pants for now on.

I'm 6'1" 215 lbs, usually wear 36-34 size pant, and the Trousers fit great lengthwise. waist seems to fit true to size. Actually found the other style, Vida Pro Pants, to be too long, so exchanged them for these. These look good, very easy to move around in, and the durability is top notch.

      Expensive, but worth it?

Worth $150? That is the question I’m sure many of you have about these pants. I purchased the dark gray/black version of this pant, with the main use being working outdoors and hunting. In the cooler times of the year I will wear pants like these everyday. The body of the pants is dark gray with the double layered knees and seat being black. First of all a note about the sizing; many reviews have stated that these pants run a bit small. I have found that NOT to be the case. The size 48 euro, 32 US that I purchased run a bit large, measuring in at exactly a 33” waist. The fabric is relatively thin for a pant that is marketed as an outdoor garment. The workmanship is quality throughout and the fit, at least for my slim to medium build, is spot-on. These pants are very comfortable and the lightweight fabric plays a big part in that. If you are used to wearing workpants like Carhartt or Arborwear then you will be pleasantly surprised with comfort of the Vidda pants. The lightweight fabric doesn’t cut into the back of your knees when working bent down for long periods of time. On the flip side; will they hold up to extended use and abuse? I have my doubts, especially when compared to a heavy work pant like Carhartt. Time will tell I guess. As far as the cost vs. value goes, you can get three pairs of good jeans or Carhartts for the price of these pants. Or a similar fabric blend in a military BDU pant. So that really only leaves the water resistant feature of the G-1000 fabric and the quality build as the main benefit. Bottom line; the Fjallraven Vidda Pro Trouser is a well made, comfortable and useful piece of gear that in my opinion is overpriced.

      Update to previous review.
I have had some time now to really judge these pants. I have worn them five days a week for the past three months in nearly all types of conditions; rain, snow, walking, running, snowshoeing, climbing, working on my knees. Overall, I like the pants (I would have stopped wearing them otherwise). The fabric is wearing extremely well. I am amazed that such a thin fabric can be so durable. The design is great; good pockets in all the right places. No pockets on the butt make them great for bike riding as do the straps in the cuffs. You can cinch down the cuff on the right leg to keep it out of your bike chain. The fabric is very wind resistant, which again is great for biking in single digit temps.
Now for a few flaws I have found. Firstly, NOT water resistant. Ok, maybe more water resistant than a pair of Levis, but not by much. I have rewaxed the pants, always washed in cold water, and always hung to dry. I really dont wash them often, so I know I havent washed out the original wax. Still, the pants absorb water that gets on them nearly immediately. Forget about wearing them in deep snow. They become soaking wet very quickly. Maybe others reviewers only wore them for few minutes in snow, idk. In my case, trudging through knee deep snow for about an hour the pants were soaked. The same with rain. A light drizzle is not a problem, but in a full rain the pants were soaked.
The hooks on the cuffs seem like a good idea, but in reality they really dont accomplish anything. If you hook the cuffs to your bootlaces it really impedes movement. They dont work like gaiters. Gaiters are below the knee, so you can step and move easily.
All in all, still a good pair of pants. Maybe the perfect choice for someone who can only own one pair of pants?!

I just received my latest pair- I now have 4 of these as well as 2-3 Keb versions.
These are in a beautiful deep sky blue with Navy as shown on seat and knees. ( they call it Night Sky) This may be the nicest color yet. Just beautiful.
I wear these pants for everyday use- work and play. Yes- great for hiking: durable and comfy. If weather looks suspicious, I throw on a little more wax. It comes like a bar of soap. Simply rub it on, and heat to melt in.
You may say: "Wow, these are expensive!" Yes, they are but they wear like iron. Hang them to dry but just put them in a HOT dryer for 3 minutes to melt the Greenland Wax. Lots of compliments with these pants. So tell everyone where to buy a pair!
