Embrace the past.

Take a few steps back to the days of bell bottoms, paisley, and long hair for all and add a little nostalgia to your fall wardrobe with the Fjallraven Raven Winter Insulated Jacket. A winterized version of a style made by the company in the '70s, the Raven, unlike many '70s trends, has managed to remain relevant decades past its original heyday. A clean, tailored cut and classic cargo pockets lend it a rugged, timeless quality, and it pairs as well with dark jeans and boots now as it might've with washed flares back in the day. Its durable cotton blend exterior withstands wear and tear from the elements, and plush polyester insulation creates a lofted layer of warmth on crisp autumn days.

  • Durable cotton blend exterior follows a regular fit

Thank God, I'm cool now

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

I bought the Raven after going to Europe and realizing that my tan LL Bean canvas jacket makes me stand out like an American college student from Maine wearing a tan canvas jacket while being surrounded by sleek Europeans. It's a specific feeling.

I didn't worry about the style very much until I realized that the Bean jacket was one size too small. I was a little bummed since it's a great jacket (

So, I wanted a new jacket but didn't want to lose my access to wearing a neat canvas coat. The research phase to find a style/function seesaw was intense. Anyway, I landed on the Raven. The jacket looks great around town, can get dressed up or down, keeps brambles off during biology trips, and has just enough room to put a fleece/puffy under it when it gets real chilly. With layering, the temp range goes from +40 to -15. The Greenland wax is killer, too, and fun to put on.

Perfect Fall/Winter Jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

This jacket is super warm and comfortable. The G-1000 material does an amazing job keeping the elements out. I was worried about the jacket being a little boxy but it fits perfectly. The inner waist drawsting and wrist snaps help it fit exactly how I want. This feels like a very well made, high-quality jacket. The clean, simple look is very stylish. Well done Fjallraven.

Nice Jacket For Everything

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

This is one of the best non-technical jackets I've used in a while. The waterproofing of Fjallravens G-1000 fabric is top notch and yet you could wear it into the office or around town because it doesn't look like a ski jacket. It has a canvas like look and feel. The fleece lining insulation is about perfect for all around use. Not as warm as a down fill jacket but definitely enough to take the bite out of the air while waiting for the bus or the first 10 minutes in a car until the heater warms up. Zip away hood is preference. I personally like it because this jacket is a Swiss Army knife, but if you're not into that Fjallraven has some jackets with dedicated hoods and no hood at all. I just wish this came in the gray that the non-insulated version does.

Classic Look

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love this coat, super warm and great look. Only complaint is I wish they didn't even bother with the hood. It just makes the collar bulky when its zipped in.

What size did you get? I am the same height and weight as you

Sorry but what size did you get??
