Durable and useful!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Fjallraven makes products that are timeless and versatile. This pack is a great option for the casual Instagram, photo searching, weekender or traveler. But it is also great for people who are looking for a rugged, durable, high-quality pack for short hikes or even overnights that are quick and require minimum gear. The shoulder straps have a fair amount of padding so even loading this pack up isn't uncomfortable. I have found that it is a perfect carry-on for flights, it fits my 15' MacBook Pro with no problem, and my Canon DSLR too. I use the Eagle Creek Pack-It Cubes to organize everything inside the pack, this really helps to make sure I can pull items out quickly when I have to go through Security Checkpoints, or while camping to make sure I have everything I need.

Overall, I highly recommend this pack, it doesn't have a lot of pockets but if you utilize the large pocket and use some other smaller organizational bags, it is easy to find everything.

So far so good

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

A good basic pack.

Cheaply made.

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

This bag uses inferior leather, looks fake. Sent back for Patagonia Black Hole. The leather straps for shoulder adjustment are to long and cannot be concealed.

Perfect for travel

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Got this pack for my daughter before she left to go travel in the Philippines, here is what she had to say about it:

"This is a great carry on bag for traveling. I love the side pocket where I could easily get to my Conteigo. I also put our chargers in there for easy access. One of the things that appealed to me was the padded laptop pocket which meant I didn't need to pack a laptop carrier or case, helping to save room.

The pack has a drawstring top that allows the bag to expand which was lifesaver, because you always come home with more stuff than you took.

The straps are super comfortable. The one downside is maybe the buckles, because they can be time consuming, but I also liked that it meant it would be heard to steal from my bag with me noticing! I know this bag will see through many adventures, well worth the investment."

Vintage style

Stuffed with the basics for an overnight in the woods.

    Terrific rucksack

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

If a backpack can qualify as an heirloom piece then this will probably live up to that standard. Beautiful quality and workmanship. The G-1000 fabric is impressive, enough so that I'm now looking into a pair of Fjallraven's pants too. This has been a wonderfully simplistic rucksack for me so far, one large main compartment with a minimum of interior and exterior pockets. It's been great on day hikes and I can easily pack it out for a lightweight overnight hammock hang. The back padding adds structure and plenty of comfort for the type of mileage I've put on it so far. The leather straps work well for lashing items (like a blanket, jacket, axe) to the top/front of the pack. There are a few things to be aware of for anyone looking to invest in one of these bags though:

    1. The thickness and durability of the materials used come at a weight cost, opposite end of the spectrum from a 30L ultralight pack.

    2. Pockets are at a minimum. People that are used to having a dozen little pockets available (like me) will need to use some creativity when filling the one small interior zippered pocket near the opening of the bag and the two modest exterior side pockets.

    3. Water bottles...you can pack your bottle in the main compartment of the bag, but I used a small 'biner to clip a bottle to the leather strap where it connects at the hip.

Overall, I'm just at the beginning of what is going to be a long love affair with this piece of gear.

    Terrific rucksack

    Vey good quality

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

Its a ruged package! Hardcore! I used it to do trekking a in Dolomitas and as a city bag in a recent Europe travel! You can improve the waterproffness using the G 1000 wax. I fell it confortable despite it doest have the abdmen strap. I have it for more than a year and it is like a New One.

    Vey good quality

    Fits everything!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I took this on a trip and there is plenty of room to fit everything! Even our Go-Pro extender pole. The only hassle with it is that it has the belted straps to keep it shut, opposed to a zipper. But other than that, I love it!

Great, depending on what you use it for.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

It is a great sized adventure bag... day hikes, around town, to the office, whatever... It's just not my favorite for air travel... the 'snow lock' and lid are not the easiest thing to get into quickly... for when you need to go through security and stuff like that.... Other than that, it is super durable, and comfortable.
