Greenland No. 1 Special Edition Jacket

Wear a piece of history that still holds its own in the modern world with the Greenland No. 1 Special Edition Jacket. The classic Greenland first debuted in 1968, and this reissue is true to the spirit and design of the original. The heart of this jacket is Fjallraven's signature G-1000 Eco fabric, which is a blend of 65% recycled polyester and 35% organic cotton. The highly durably fabric is tightly woven and then impregnated with a treatment of Greenland Wax, which gives it excellent wind and water resistance while still maintaining breathability. The fixed hood, zipper with button flap, and two hand pockets remain true to the original design, as well as the leather details on the shoulders and arms.

  • A Fjallraven classic for pursuits around town
  • Hardwearing face fabric defends against light weather
  • Fabric can be treated with Greenland Wax for extra protection
  • Adjustable cuffs let you seal out the wind and chill
  • Assorted pockets give you a place for small essentials
  • Recycled and organic materials provide an eco-friendly construction

Great jacket, New price is a joke.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Paid 240$ for this 2 years ago, and 240$ again in 2016. Why the price jump to 500$. Its a great jacket but for 500$ you can get better stuff by a large margin. Fjallraven is losing their damn minds with that price lol

Edit: Their down fill version of this jacket was selling for 500$ just last year, now they want that for just the shell. G-1000 is cool but its not THAT nice of a fabric blend.

I'm pretty sure these retail at $300, I just got one on Amazon at that price. I've seen a few sites claim they retail anywhere up to $600. I think it's just a marketing trick. They inflate the retail price and claim they're giving you a great deal.

Classic Fjallraven

This is the jacket that got me hooked on Fjallraven. It has a look that really stands out from all the synthetic looking shells and puffy jackets out there. The aesthetics definitely drew me to the jacket but it was it was its durability and versatility that has made me a fan. I wear it year round, in the summer to keep the wind off and in the cooler months I wear it more like a shell and iron it just a bit of wax to make it warmer and keep moisture off.

hard wearing classic

this jacket is one of those hard wearing classic pieces that you dont realize you wear for years until you look back at all the adventures, all the chores, all the work that has been done wearing it. I have had mine for about 3 years now, and I wear a light down jacket under it on cold days when doing chores out side, or by itself when it is a fall day. I love that the fabric is recycled and organic mix, it gives it a semi broken in feel out of the bag. You can wax it like any Fjallraven item for some water repellency. If Carhartt is your jam, but you want unique, go here, you wont regret it. 5'10" 165, got a medium.

Great looking all-round jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The fabric is a bit stiff/hard, and thought the jacket is not bulky, it is not slim either.
It doesn't have hand pockets.
It's still a great looking jacket that you can wear on any day.

Super Versatile

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

I am really liking this jacket. It's super versatile and I have been wearing it all the time, it has just become my easy go to. Great around town, wind-proof & surprisingly water resistant and easy to layer. I dont have a bad thing to say about this. They certainly are expensive but if you like nice things and can justify a nice go-to coat that will suit all conditions you wont be disappointed.

I love it!!!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This jacket is wonderful

Good cross-season clothing

Innerwear is available until winter layering utilization high

The color is pretty unique

I love it!!!

Great first impression

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Just received mine in the mail today - wasn't sure if I picked the right size - I'm 5'11'', 44'' chest - but XL fits perfectly so thought I'd share my sizing advice. Sleeves are nice and long and there's room to layer but it's not bulky. Really looking forward to putting it through its paces.

Super all-rounder

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

This jacket I wear as my everyday raincoat. It's waterproof, very stylish, and appears as though it will outlast any other *Tex type of material; just a coat of wax every so often should keep this one going strong for decades to come.

The only downside is there are no hand pockets. It was originally designed as an alpine jacket, so I am not using it as intended by using it as an everywhere rain coat where hand pockets would be nice. So it's almost perfect, and close enough for five stars.

New favourite all-round jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I'm 5'8", 170lbs with an athletic build. I got a medium in this jacket and think it fits perfectly. Shoulder length on this jacket feels good and the ample space in the arms and chest work really well with layers, but don't look weird without layering. The arm length was built for climbing so it's naturally longer which is great to keep you hands warm, or while biking.

What I like most about this jacket is the colouring. I got the Stone Grey/Uncle Blue and it looks much better than I thought it would. It works perfectly for casual wear, and is technical in a heritage way for outdoor adventures (hiking, camping, climbing, biking, etc.).

I haven't tried waxing it yet, but I can attest to the classic way of waterproofing and keep products durable; it just works.

I don't really miss hand warmer pockets because of the sleeve length, and the chest pockets are very nice and convenient, you will probably find yourself using them more often that you thought too. The hood is slimmer than most technical climbing jackets so it's extremely comfortable when wearing it bare, over a hoodie, or over a hat/beanie.

If you haven't guessed by now, I highly recommend this jacket. The attention to detail is the cherry on top, and you won't regret this purchase.

Great looking casual jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

This is more a casual jacket than an outdoor jacket, but I guess I could see myself using it on a trek. Well made. Fits well - guess the Swedes are slim. Wish they had two hand warmers/ pockets though. Attest to the windproofness of the jacket.
