These shoes are great, they not only are comfortable to walk around in.. they have an amazing grip/texture to them that makes them in the sweet spot.. not to much grip.. but still extremely sticky to the peddles.. very strong and durable. I am a very rough rider.. I like the fact that these freerider contact not only has a heal cup but also a toe cup.. so I look as these as not only grip but also protection/small to medium breathability.. and PS THEY DO RUN half a size down.. I wear 10âs.. I bought them 10.5âs because thatâs all that was left on recent holiday sale ( 50% off ) so it was kind of a impulse buy.. but after there arrived and I tried them off they feel like my Nike 10âs ( size wize) but I love them and also like the marine blue on black ( hard to find in Menâs ).. but I can tell you one thing, they are shoes that DO need to be walked/ and rode in to start to wear them in and therefore become more comfortable. 9/10. Recommended for not only sticky bottom soles.. but heal/foot support as well as protection. At a very light weight..

I loved the look of this shoe and its features - grippy bottom, sturdy construction, the look, BUT had to return it because it's a bit too narrow in the toe area for my wide feet and didn't feel the construction would accommodate what I would need after breaking in.
I purchased these shoes and flat pedals to help with rehab of my knee replacement! The shoes are awesome in an indoor environment as that is all i can do now. They look real hot with my gray & turquoise mountain bike!!! I look forward to trying them out in the dirt after my knee has healed.
Love these!!! I’m a size 8 but always go up a size because of my wide feet, I ordered an 8 1/2, they fit PERFECT!!! Also a total game changer on the trails. My feet kept sliding off on those long bumpy drops and I really did not want to commit to clip ons (no gracias). Paired with a good pedal you’ll be ready for any climb or drop! (I have the detox pedals)
I also feel more confident going faster 😁.
I ordered my regular size, 8.5, and my feet felt crammed into the shoe. Size up or squeeze in! Will be returning. Also disappointed about the sole- not what I expected. Wishing these were the original Freestyle, which is what I thought when I ordered.
I've had 2 other pairs of 510 shoes in the "freestyle" style. I love them! Needed a new pair and thought I'd try these. First off, they're WAY smaller - I ordered my normal size and my toes were crammed in the front. I thought maybe the heel needed to be broken in a bit since they typically come pretty stiff, so I wore them around the house. They seemed to loosen up a bit, so I wore them at our downhill park. My feet were constantly slipping off the pedals - it was terrifying to go off a jump and have your feet come off! Returning these and going back to the tried and true freestyle 510's.
I think that claiming that these shoes are sticky and and grippy is misleading.
The bottom rubber is hard, and my chester pedals rubbed all over the bottoms of these shoes and I could not get my pins in. My feet slid all over the pedal on the road- if i took them on the trail, my shins would never be the same.
Hard pass on the stealth- please more og.
The shoes are very comfortable and otherwise perfect. I need them to work with my flats.
Picked these up for the Woman of the house. Her last pair lasted 3 years and with 510 quality I'm sure these will last just as long.
She love's these shoes and rides in them all the time.
I was pretty stoked to have more padding and a flat rubber face on the sole due to my aggressive shred style, however, I needed to return these because my normal size 9 in FiveTens was too big. I prefer to have the heel and top of the shoe snug to my foot. I tried re-lacing and pulling laces pretty tight but my heel still popped out of the shoe, any smaller size, my toe would hit the end of the shoe and probably be very uncomfortable while riding. These shoes fit like skate shoes, not for me so I'm going back to ordering the Freerider Pro!
Loving the Five Ten Freerider Contact..and for just that, the smooth more grabby/gripping to the pedal bottom, is sweet..sizing, I went with a 6, since no 5.5 in stock, they may run slightly small, but I probably could have still used a 5.5, making it work though, super fun going with flats, I'm an old school, clipless xc rider/racer and they have changed some riding skills for the better :0)
2nd pair in 3 years, unfortunately Five Ten quality has decreased, but, still the best flat pedal shoes out there.
I'm typically between a size 6.5 to 7 but read the reviews to size up so I went with the 7. The shoes are wide and roomy. The only complaint I have is they are tight around the outside ankle bone. Still going to keep them and give them a try.
Bought for wife to upgrade from her adidas trail runners. Seems to be doing the trick. Not as versatile but more stiff and suited for the type of XC riding we do.
First off I have tiny feet so, yes, I know I'm posting on the women's shoes.
These were my first pair of flat shoes and I've had good experiences with Five Ten rubber in the climbing world so figured I'd go with them for cycling as well. There are a lot of really positive things about these shoes. They are very stiff when putting downward pressure through them but still bend at the ball of your foot when walking. This means that you get really good power transfer (for flats)when pedalling but they're still comfortable to walk in. I'm honestly pretty amazed that Five Ten managed to make a shoe that performs like that. I have no idea how it's possible. The fit is super solid and I don't get any heel lift when riding or walking. If you have good technique (weight back, heels down) they're also really sticky as far as I can tell, but again, these are my first pair of flat shoes.
There's really only one flaw to them, but it's a big one. They somehow put pressure on my right foot in a way that makes it go numb. The tongue is super thick and padded and it doesn't feel like there's a lot of pressure there but when I put them on, the top of my foot near the knot starts to get pins and needles. I've been playing with different lacing patterns and adjusting how tight I'm tying the laces. I have found that you can keep the lacing surprisingly loose without it affecting performance and I have managed to get it to be tolerable but it's still far from ideal. It could just be because I have a high instep but I'm not sure about that.
Wore these for the first time today and they are terrible. My old pair of regular Five Ten women's Freeriders are pretty much kicked and I thought I would try the Contact version but they do not stick to the pedals at all. I have really nice Deity flat pedals and the pins are not broken so it is definitely the shoes. I had to turn around about a mile into my ride and go home to change them out for my old shoes - which even though they are beat, still stick better than the Contacts. I was really surprised because the Contact version of the Freeriders is supposed to be even sticker than the regular Freerider and the reviews on here were mostly positive, but man they are awful. So bad that I am honestly wondering if the pair I got was defective. Not safe to ride in. Oh and yes, they definitely run small. I normally wear a 7 in Five Tens and I had to get these in a 7.5. I'll be going back to the regular Freeriders. Hoping Backcountry will let me return these.
These shoes are firm, and grippy. I wear a 6.5-7 in shoes, usually a 7. I got these in 7.5 and they fit great. Since they are so stiff i do notice after about 4 hrs on the trail the rubbing around my ankles is annoying, but thats really the only complaint. Sometimes it bothers me more then others.
I would order a half size up, if you are in between like me the 7.5 would be a better fit. These shoes are tough too, i have fallen pretty on numerous occasions and these seem to stay rock solid. I wore then around the house a bit to break them in-they are meant to be stiff so then i decided to just break them in riding instead.
These are great, just as great as the Canvas, if not better. Sleeker and more stylish, and the size fit perfect for my wife. Very comfortable, very responsive, and very durable from what we can tell. Keep it coming Five Ten!
I have the men's version of this shoe, so when a buddy needed a recommendation on womens bike shoes, these were it. Super Grippy, protective, and comfortable. We both love them!
