X1 Infinito Cycling Shoe

Providing excellent power transfer rivaling many top-end road shoes and a superb fit, the Men's Fi'zi:k X1 Infinito Cycling Shoe is in a class of its own amongst other off-road shoes and is certain to be a hit with cross country, 'cross, and gravel aficionados. This is Fi'zi:k's top-tier off-road shoe, and the X1 Infinito tips the scales at a feathery 294 grams. The mesh Infinito insole uses Fi’zi:k’s Dynamic Arch Support technology for comfort and improved ventilation.

Fi'zi:k employs two micro-adjustable double Boa IP1-B dials running laces in an infinite (hence the name) configuration that adjusts the fit of the upper over the forefoot. Soft, textile guides eliminate pressure points that could lead to hotspots. This technology, known as Increased Volume Control, gives a near custom fit and is highly adaptable. We haven't experienced many shoes that have the ability to wrap both normal and higher volume feet with such a glove-like fit. The entire system tightens with steel-coated nylon laces for durability and allows for quick and easy adjustability on the fly regardless of how muddy the conditions are.

At the bottom of the shoe, you'll get the benefits of a light unidirectional full-carbon outsole that's extremely stiff, and ventilated to keep feet cool on hot humid trails that more resemble a rainforest. This sole ensures every watt goes into the pedals in racing and training where performance matters most. Aggressive treads on the heel and toe allow for positive grip and protection both on and off the bike, while the cleat recess has plenty of room for mud clearance and the front allows for replaceable cyclocross-style spikes for scrambling up slippery run-ups.

  • Fi'zi:k's top-tier off-road shoe for cyclists
  • Perforated Microtex upper is supple for comfort and ventilation
  • Increased Volume Control and dual Boa IP1-B dials for glove-like fit
  • Steel-coated nylon laces and textile guides prevent pressure points
  • Dynamic arch support insole stabilizes feet
  • Mesh-lined footbed disperses allows for breathability and ventilation
  • Full unidirectional carbon sole for efficient pedaling

This is it !

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: 43.5

For me, an MTB shoe needs to be able to get dirty and then clean again easily. When my ancient (25yr old) and beloved Specialized shoes were eaten by the dog, I went on the hunt. A casual MTB rider in dirt (mud) on forest trails and farm fields, I initially purchased an inexpensive but attractive pair of Mavics. The fit was horrible (odd pressure on arch) but the price was right for occasional use. This year the budget allowed a new search - I ordered and returned several shoes to Competitive Cyclist - some fit well (Pearl Izumi) but were not designed to shed dirt, others just didn’t fit my foot. Until this Fizik X1. Fits my narrow, neutral foot like a glove! Designed to shed not just dirt, but the wet stuff too. I normally wear a 44, but the 43.5 fits better. My first BOA shoe, I agree that some additional padding could benefit on the top of the foot, but they are so adjustable, that after wearing for several minutes all the slight pressure points disappear.
Easy on, easy off, easy to clean, excellent fit, construction appears durable, and they look great. I use them on the spin bike and for trail riding - here’s to another 25 years!

Very nice if they fit

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size

This is a beautiful and well-made shoe. There were two aspects of the fit that soured it for me:
1) They're narrow. Very narrow! Like, even more narrow than Sidi. The toe of the shoe doesn't taper down as much as either the Sidi or Giro fit, but the overall width of the forefoot is awfully tight. Of course this may be great if your foot is likewise narrow, but I couldn't love 'em.
2) The top of the shoe wraps the foot in a well-considered way, but there is NO padding up there. For me, snugging down the BOA dials led to some uncomfortable hot spots on the top of my foot. Again, for some the shape may be great, and if so the lack of padding will probably yield great power transfer and a feeling of connection to the bike. But I couldn't get along with this aspect of the fit.

Hello Andrew!

If you'd like to exchange this shoe for a different model/ size, or have any questions in particular I'm happy to help out! Feel free to shoot an email to me at ZFoley@CompetitiveCyclist.com and I'd be stoked to get the ball rolling in any direction that you'd prefer. If not, no sweat at all, just wanted to make sure that you're all good to go. I hope you're well!

Super comfy and look great

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Got these for my gravel/XC adventures after getting the R1's for the road. Fit is the same and feel great.

Super Dialed

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 42.5

I bought these shoes to for XC MTB and Gravel riding with my Candy 7 pedals. The shoes are great and I had no issues even on the first ride which was a 4 hour ride in the mountains! The heel cup keeps your foot locked down during low cadence/high power situations and the toe box has plenty of room!

Fit

It really is an impressive, well made, high quality shoe. Unfortunately for my feet, the upper closure is just too high and makes it very uncomfortable, it makes the front part of my ankle just rub with the shoe, even if you can have it firmly hold with the lower BOA system, the upper one needs to be too loose that it defeats the purpose, If fizik would make some type of "wedge" the this part to make them fit better I would buy them again without thinking about it.
