Despite its understated styling (and it’s fun-to-say name), the Fi’z:k Uomo Boa shoe is all about the business of going fast. From the high-tech synthetic upper to its carbon fiber sole and everything in between, the Uomo Boa feels the need for speed.

The Fi’z:k M3 Uomo wraps your foot in a confortable, breathable Microtex upper. Laser perforations promote cooling airflow and allow water vapor to escape to keep your foot cool and dry. The BOA closure system allows you to adjust your fit precisely, even on the bike, so you don’t have to pull over if you feel your foot slipping in the shoe or if your feel a hot spot popping up. Hot spots are unlikely, however, with Fi’z:k’s comfortable Uomo footbed providing support and ensuring sensitivity as you pedal. Speaking of pedaling, you won’t lose a watt of energy through Fi’z:k’s thin but super-stuff unidirectional carbon fiber sole.

Almost Perfect

I would have loved these shoes, but for some reason the left shoe hit just wrong on my ankle bone so I had to return them. They felt awesome in every other way.

    Great performance, comfort

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 45.5

I'm reviewing the all black 2018 Fizik M3B Uomo shoes.

The shoes hold onto my feet well, but they are also comfortable for walking. My heel does not lift while riding and they don't seem to flex, so they feel very efficient. My previous shoes did a great job of preventing heel lift, but they also rubbed the back of my heel when walking and I would get blisters if I had to do too much walking/running in them. The Fiziks will be much better for cyclocross.

These shoes are very lightweight. Size 45.5 with Shimano cleats are 834 g for the pair. 121 g lighter than my previous shoes and the weight difference is very obvious while riding.

Fizik recently changed their sizing and these 45.5 shoes are a hair larger than my 2016 Fizik R3B size 46 road shoes. I have narrow feet and the Fiziks fit my feet well.

    Great shoe

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: EU 42 (US 9)

Bought R3B’s last spring. Liked the Boa on them so much decided to go with M3B’s to for CX. So far not disappointed. Wore Sidi for 20 yrs. great shoes but don’t fit me as well as Fizik. I wear a 43 in Sidi but a EU 42 (US 9) in Fizik. Be aware of size. ‘15 model of this shoe in EU 42 is a US 8.5, but in ‘16 version it is a US 9. Highly recommend Fizik. Have pairs of R3B’s, R4B’s and now M3B’s. Love them all.

    So Far, Great Shoes

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

Just got these and, right out of the box, went for a 3 hour + gravel ride with a little 2-track added in. Super stiff soles but at the same time comfortable for the whole time. The uppers are compliant but feel supportive. There are nice anti- slip strips applied inside the heel cups.
Overall they look to be very well constructed. Beware though, I got the Black/black carbon and they are VERY shiny. Not everyone will like that.
Another minor niggle: they did not come with toe spikes.
Size wise, they seem to run a little smaller than my Sidi and Giro. I'm normally a 43 but found the 43.5's to be spot on.

    Great shoes

    • Fit: True to size

These shoes are very comfortable. The only downside is the hard plastic bottom was initially fairly slippery,

    great mtb shoe

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 44.5

Perfect fit as i have a wide foot. very light for an mtb shoe and the boa system works very well. i actually purchased the R3's for road...

    Improve Quality Details

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 45

Overall satisfied with this shoe which replaced a several year old pair of of Sidi Drako's. The feel and fit is beautiful, but the construction details could use upgrade. Specifically, use a softer replaceable skid plate. The current plastic is light and durable but too hard. And improve the tongue construction which is glued and comes apart. The heel liner is cheap and too easily worn down, and, finally, the mechanics of the Boa device could be improved to prevent snagging.

    Runs really small, narrow fit

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 48

I normally wear Specialized S-works shoes, size 48. Ordered these in a 48 which according to the size listing, should be a little bigger than Spez's 48, but were way too tight. Could barely cram my foot in. Otherwise they look well built. Try ordering 2 sizes larger than normal.

Maybe the chart is wrong but Spesh shoes run wide. These in a 48 (I have a pair) run longer than Sidi or Giro 48s. They're narrow though (perfect for my feet).

    Great Mountain Bike Shoes!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small

This is my first pair of cycling shoes, and today, after getting the cleats and pedals put on from my neighborhood bike shop, I was totally impressed with the style, quality, and the fit of the shoes. The BOA system is great, easy to adjust to give both feet the comfort and symmetry while riding. The size of my shoes, depending on the vendor, varies, but usually a size 11, and I got the size 45, which is supposedly a size 11 1/3, and the shoes fit me perfectly, and yes, I have narrow feet. Highly recommended.

    Great Mountain Bike Shoes!

    These shoes are dialed!

Best MTB shoe I've used thus far. Light weight, stiff and sexy. The heel is snuff and I can really get a strong pedal stroke. First ride in them I headed out for a 30 mile single track session and the shoes blew me away. Get in these M3's and ride! The BOA system is amazing.

What type of shoe were you wearing prior to these? How was the fit compared to the Comp Cyclist sizing chart?
