    Arione R3 Versus EVO Saddle

The Fi'zi:k Arione R3 Versus EVO Saddle is suited for highly flexible riders preferring a flat saddle with a full-length pressure relief channel to lighten the burden on soft tissue areas, which tend to be most sensitive. It's entirely flat from nose to tail and uses a particularly narrow nose that allows you to find your power spot as you shift weight on climbs. Additionally, you'll find it's K:ium alloy rails offer a nice balance of strength-to-weight while being resistant to corrosion.

Besides the flat surface and pressure relief channel, this saddle offers Wing Flex technology directly where your thighs touch the saddle. Flexibility prevents discomfort on longer rides and gives you some leeway to move fore and aft while positioning yourself. Fi'zi:k's Comfort Core foam provides enough cushioning to keep your underside happy as you ride and race for lengthy distances, covered with Microtex for weather-resistance and longevity.

    • Suited for flexible riders seeking a flat-shaped saddle
    • Pressure relief channel lightens the burden on soft tissues
    • Wing Flex technology where your thighs meet the saddle
    • Particularly narrow nose allows you to find power spot
    • K:ium alloy rails provide good strength-to-weight
    • Comfort Core foam with durable Microtex cover

Nylon shell sags, cracks over time

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This saddle is comfortable for me, a fan of Fizik's Arione shape, but the durability of the saddle's construction is questionable. I've ridden two of specimens of this saddle--the one I bought and one I received from Fizik as a warranty claim replacement--and both have had cracks develop in the nylon shell, towards the middle of the saddle, furthest from where the rails make contact with the saddle upper at each of the tip and the tail of the shell. This leads to sagging of the saddle's surface, which is only slightly uncomfortable and easy enough to ignore once you start moving on a ride, but the upper of my first Arione Versus EVO eventually completely collapsed after riding over a larger-than-normal pothole. The shell completely gave out, and in addition to the nylon shell's splitting, the foam upper split as well. At that point, the saddle was unridably uncomfortable, and I submitted my first warranty claim to Fizik. They promptly addressed the situation, and they gladly sent me another Arione Versus EVO, but alas, cracks are beginning to form on my replacement as well. Fizik has excellent customer service and appears to me to stand behind their products, but unfortunately, the Versus EVO incarnation of their Arione saddle seems to be an example of a poor design that slipped through their doors.
