    Antares R1 Versus EVO Saddle

    The middle ground often gets a bad rap, but with most of us falling somewhere in the median range for flexibility, speed, sit bone width, and size, it can be a great — and comfortable place to ride. Now, we don't mean that you need to skimp, and go for mid-range bikes that don't fit right, or ride in the middle of the pack where you feel cramped with no space to breakaway, but rather, go for the mid width saddle, for riders with medium flexibility with the Fi'zi:k Antares R2 Versus EVO Saddle for support to keep you comfortable for rides that blast past mid-length.

    Giving you a saddle to stand on, or rather, sit on, the Antares R1 Versus EVO supports your sit bones for long rides, thanks to its comfort care foam that cradles you and absorbs harsh road chatter for a soft feel. It features a pressure relieving channel in the center to give your most sensitive tissue, ensuring your weight is properly supported across the whole saddle.     Great other than Rail Size

    I had to return this seat even though it is a very nice saddle. My Trek Domane can only support round 7x7 or oval 7x10 rails and this saddle has 7x9 oval rails. It seems most saddle brands use a 7x10 oval rail so it makes is very difficult to use this saddle. With the new Trek bikes the seat post is unique to Trek so you have to buy their seat posts and they do not make seat post ears that fit this seat. I ended up buying the R3 with round rails. It is nice but not as nice as the R1.

    I’ve been searching for the right saddle for months, trying everything from Brooks to Selle SMP with no luck, but after two weeks with this saddle I’m not going back. Obviously saddles are highly personal, but this saddle’s shape works perfectly for my sit bones and the center channel is just wide enough to prevent numbness. I was worried the lack of curvature would make me feel like I was sitting on the saddle rather than in it, but the carbon-nylon shell has enough flex to all but eliminate that feeling. It doesn’t hurt that the saddle looks pretty nice on my BMC Teammachine as well.

    I've been riding this for several months now on top of an ENVE seatpost mounted to an Alchemy Chiron. On balance, this has become my favorite road saddle.

    This saddle replaced an Arione R1. Compared with that saddle, I like the very slight curvature toward the rear of this Antares saddle. The channel in the middle seems to increase airflow and generally reduces heat.

    Pressure points have never been a problem for me, which is why it took me a while to try out a saddle with a center channel. I'm happy I did. I find this saddle amazingly comfortable for the weight that it has.

    The surface is quite smooth and allows for sliding on the saddle with little friction. But I find that it provides enough grip for me to stay put easily when pedaling hard.

    I also do occasional gravel riding on this saddle and it's served me well for that purpose, too.
