Close enough to kiss.

You'd say you're close with your backpacking buddies, but you don't want to be that close. Where most backpacking tents keep internal space to a minimum, Eureka's Apex 2XT Tent gives you enough space to avoid awkward eye contact when both of you wake up. It still has a slim weight and compact packing size for backpacking, but a little extra internal space really goes a long way when it comes to not spooning with the person you're camping with.

Decent 2 person tent

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Only used it on one 3 night camping trip so far. Tent was spacious enough with two people (one of them being 6’3” with plenty of room length wise, plus some gear), and held up in the rain (granted not an intense rain storm, but still decent rainfall for a couple hours). I liked the pockets it has in every corner plus the “basket” thing at the top. Super easy to put up too. I’m not sure how much they work, but there’s little vents on the top of the rain cover that you can prop open which seems nice in theory. You can also close them if it’s raining too intensely. But they weren’t enough to stop the tent getting super hot in the morning sun. At this point I just got up and pulled half the rain fly off on the side the sun wasn’t coming from, and the tent is made of so much mesh that is cooled off really quickly. I also like the way the rain fly extends out to form little antechambers on both sides of the tent. The two doors on either side is quite nice too. It comes with an under tarp thing as well, though it doesn’t cover under the “antechamber” bits covered by the rain fly but not in the tent.

Thank you so much for this review! You get a feel for the size, integrity and ventilation! Thanks for the awesome feedback!

heavier than anticipated. didn't pack down small. poles were cumbersome since they are all attached. could work well for some....not what i was looking for.

Hi. What is the length of one assembled pole?

    Replacement for Mountain Pass 2xte

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Overall a great tent, just a little more snug than we wanted. We were told by Eureka that this was a replacement for the blue 2xte but fitting two campers with gear was considerably tighter. If you pack light and don't mind a snug fit, gif this one a shot.

The tent itself was great. Very easy to set up and take down. It kept me warm at night (with the sleeping bag of course). No problems.
