    Grip it and rip.

The ESI Chunky Mountain Bike Grip delivers you a cush ride with excellent control in all conditions. The Chunky is constructed with ultra-grippy silicone, which not only secures your hold but also does a superb job of absorbing vibration. The silicone also gives you a custom fit by molding to the unique shape of your hand. ESI’s grips are offset (meaning they are slightly thicker on one side) to provide optimal vibration damping while still giving you precise steering. And with a medium thickness, the Chunky Mountain Bike Grip works well for most riders.

    Great but not

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got these to replace my worn palmdale grips. I tend to push slightly outward on the grips with my palms. These lasted exactly a month and half of XC racing and now im needing to replace them. The end of the grip has worn so low that the bar plug is higher than the grip.

    Great Success!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These grips are awesome. I have begun to prefer them over the lighter "Racers Edge" that ESI also offers. I think that these are best option unless you want the absolute lightest grip, or prefer to have a real thick silicon grip.

So far I’m really liking them.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Easy installation, good color options. I really like the feel of these grips. I do wear gloves so not sure about bare hands. Good shock absorption, a lot better than the stock grips that came on my enduro.

    Chunky Grips

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love these grips on my XC mountain bike. Light weight and comfy! 10/10 would recommend.

Like others have said, they can rip if you crash just right but I've been down quite a few times and mine are still in good shape. The install can be tricky but if you watch video's on Youtube it will be a million times easier. Rubbing alcohol is your friend.

    Great with and without gloves

The ESI Chunky Mountain Bike Grips are one of my staple items that I add to every new bike. For me, they are the right balance of comfort, control, and grip. I especially appreciate that their soft enough to use without gloves on days when I just don't want anything on my hands (though with the advent of thing cross country gloves, I find myself riding less and less with exposed hands).

      Bar plugs broke on install

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I love the grips but my one of plugs broke on install. If ESI will send me replacement bar plugs, I would up my review!

Editing this review- ESI responded within an hour and replaced the plugs. love the grips!

      Bar plugs broke on install

Great grips, but hard to install

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I like simple and smooth grips, so I had to try these. They come in simple packaging with ESI plugs for the end of the bars.

I first watched the install video on the ESI website a couple times, which made things look quick and easy. I then did the same as the guy in the video, but mine did not install as simple as the demo. One grip is now a bit deformed and feels weird by my thumb. I tried taking a photo of it (below), but it's difficult to see how weird that spot really is. It's only in that one spot on that one grip, so I'm not sure if it's something with that grip or if it's the way I put it on.

Other than installation the grips are really nice. I like them much better than the Bontragers I have on another bike that are a similar material/style. These are softer and more grippy. These are also the chunky size and I prefer the bigger grip.

I didn't use the include plugs because I use Cane Creek bar ends. The combination of these grips and the bar ends is quite nice. I got the black ones; they're more of a grayish black, which is fine with me.

Great grips, but hard to install

      comfortable grips

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

probably one of my favorite grips but they do tear easier than a rubber/lock on grip. they're pretty inexpensive so it doesn't break your heart if you go down and get a rip. I would recommend.

      The best!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love these grips. Have the best feel and comfort I have found over any other grip. Pretty inexpensive all things considered. They hold up fairly well, but one good crash, these things will be shredded.

      The best!

      Great replacement grips

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My bar bike was in need of an upgrade, and was sold on the white color. They seem to keep their color well and shed dirt. Very comfortable!

      Surprised me

Surprised me. I actually didn't expect to love them so it was a good surprise.

        There's blisters on my fingers

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Feels great but got blisters on my palms trying to put them on even when putting alcohol or hair spray to slide on.

        Feels Great

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I recommend these grips to anyone. They provide some dampening when it gets real bumpy and hold up to abuse!

        Still In Love

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Can't say enough about these grips, so much so that I had to use a pair of white for my new bike build, and they have even kept clean after the first few rides!

        Still In Love

        Still Going Strong

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got these back in the middle of June, and they are still in great shape after a few months of fairly constant riding. I was getting out about 3 times a week for most of this time frame. They aren't in new condition; you can definitely tell they've been ridden pretty well. They're compressed down a bit, but they still have at least a few more months of life left in them.

I would say they probably won't last as long as the rubber grips I've used in the past, but I would still take these ESI's over any rubber grip. The added comfort is worth the extra expense and work that comes along with their shorter lifespan.

        Best grips on the market!

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've used multiple sets of ESI Chunky grips over the years and their durability and comfort never ceases to amaze me! Prior to using ESI grips I'd get sore hands and thick calluses but that's ended when I started using ESI grips. Even riding almost everyday, the grips stay grippy and durable. It's also easy to remove and reuse them if you need to do work on the handlebars, shifters, etc. This is something I always struggled with from other brands. Also, ESI grips stay grippy when wet, which is not the case with rubber grips. All the cool, vibrant colors are an added bonus! I'd definitely recommend these to anybody that wants a comfortable grip at an excellent value!

        Great

They're not fun to put on, but these are great grips. The proprietary foam is unlike any other grip on the market.

          Great

          Cheap and Effective

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These grips feel great on your hands, and they work wonders if you ever come across excessive brake bumps. Highly recommended.

          PLUSH

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I recently switched to these after using the stock grips my bike came with. It made a huge difference! I will never use a different brand again. They are super soft and give the overall ride a better feel. I can now ride barehanded or with non padded gloves!

I was a little nervous for the installation but I used rubbing alcohol and it was super easy to install and they were ready to use in about an hour.

My only complaint is that after a few crashes the grips can get a few cuts and tears. However, at their price point I always keep a spare on hand!

          Great for smaller hands

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I usually run the extra chunky And got these for the lady of my life and she prefers these over the fatter ones. If you run bare handed these get pretty slippery when they get wet. That is the only reason for the 4 starts. The install nicely with copious amounts of rubbing alcohol and some strength as long as you work fast. Also make sure you have the seem where you like it.
