Lighter than a feather, stronger than most sport climbers.

The Edelrid Cyrus Harness weighs less than a pound and thrives in sport climbing scenarios so you can send your projects comfortably. The Cyrus owes its light weight to the revolutionary 3D-Vent Technology that strategically places durable webbing in ergonomic positions to conform this harness to your body like a glove. Apart from keeping the harness super light, this technology also completely eliminates pressure points so you can hang on routes all day, and it allows plenty of airflow for excellent ventilation.

Edelrid equipped the waist with one auto-locking Slide Block buckle for a speedy and secure fit, and both leg loops feature elasticized mesh inserts for a snug fit. The Cyrus also has an abrasion protector at the tie-in point to keep it strong for many years, four asymmetric gear loops for excellent organization, and two attachment points for ice screws when you go ice climbing.

So nice

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Great for cragging or in the gym. It doesn't pack easily and is bulky. The comfort though. The split webbing cuts into your back far less than the standard harness set up.

Very comfortable

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This harness fits on me perfectly. It's very comfortable whether I am climbing or belaying whole day through and it's fast to wear.

Thanks for the reviews Zohrab! Super helpful to get this feedback out to the community.

Edelrid Harnesses - Attention to detail

Solid harness but not perfect for me

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

For me, this harness is very comfortable most of the time, looks cool, and holds a lot of gear pretty well. I really like the way they split the webbing to disperse the load around the waist belt and leg loops, compared to my Petzl Sama, this harness is way more comfortable. The Sama used to destroy my legs at hanging belays, which is basically a non issue with the Cyrus. However, the bartack stitching on the side of the waist buckle is extremely hard and digs into my hip bone badly enough to bruise after a day of loading the harness with gear. For sport climbing this is a non-issue. I made a DIY foam addition to pad under the bartack and that seems to have somewhat mitigated the issue. I also would prefer dual buckles so the harness can be centered perfectly when loaded with a lot of gear. Another thing that is certainly worth noting is the sketchy creaking noise this harness produces while rappelling. The rubber ring that protects the leg loop tie in point from abrasion causes this by rubbing against the belay loop during (especially low angle) rappels. It definitely got my attention the first few times until I paid more attention and discovered the cause. Last con would be that it doesn't pack down small, it's about the size of a large book, so that might be a consideration if you have a smaller pack. I'd recommend this harness to anyone looking for a comfy harness that can hold a lot of gear but still is light and good for sport climbing. Probably best to find one to try on but good luck considering it's Edelrid.
