A penchant for powder.

With a special edition top sheet exclusive to summer '17 and a new construction from the masters of pow at DPS, the Wailer 112 Alchemist Special Edition Ski is truly one-of-a-kind designed for all kinds of snow. You can ride down pow, crud, and everything in between with the Wailer strapped to your foot, and the ski always feels delightfully lightweight on the skintrack. DPS updated this Wailer with an overhauled construction that stiffens the ski for a more stable ride when you're cranking high-speed turns. The Alchemist Carbon construction also adds vibration-dampening units at the tips and tail of the ski's Pure Carbon construction to provide a smoother ride through mixed and firm conditions. DPS also updated this ski with raised binding plates, durable sidewalls, and a sustainable aspen wood core to simultaneously tighten the turn radius and increase longevity for seasons and seasons of skinning and skiing.

Carbon, Carbon, Carbon

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

If you have skied the Pure 3 construction Wailer 112 and found it to be a little too much, this is your go to option. They made the Alchemist slightly more damp, controllable, and loaded with carbon fiber. The graphic on this ski is special edition, and sets you apart from the crowd. I highly recommend any DPS ski to expert skiers that enjoy a high performance carbon feel!

Damp, Powerful and Playful

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Looking for a ski that can handle just about anything? You have it here with the wailer! I had the privilege to ski almost the entire line of DPS skis and absolutely rave about their new line. The Alchemist was a top option especially for a Wasatch everyday ski. I skied this ski at Alta ski area in poor conditions - icy, choppy and blown out. Overall, the ski did very well in choppy areas, the carbon construction provided dampening while the rockered tip and tail made the ski very maneuverable while still holding a great edge. Based on my initial impression I am positive the ski will absolutely destroyed big lines with deep snow. If stability and speed are your thing you have it all in this ski. How well does it ski on groomers?
