Tarp's too small to get five stars

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This bag can haul a lot of gear. I have used to haul a 70m climbing rope, 44m static rope, shoes, harness, 12 draws, and a helmet along with a water bottle.

The reason I don't grab it first any more is that the tarp is so small compared with my other rope bag, and because the bag opens in the middle of the tarp, any nudges to the bag really shrink the tarp area quickly. I climb a lot with a very fine-grit dirt under the bag, so it's more important to me to keep my rope out of the dirt than it is to be able to carry a bunch of stuff in my rope bag. Instead, I use a sling rope bag with a huge tarp and I throw the entire rope bag into a backpack.

    Awesome Rope Bag

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This rope bag is awesome. The two straps on the back make this bag much more comfortable than the standard single sling bags. But the thing that really makes this bag special is how ease it makes picking up the rope. Having the bag sewn into the middle of the tarp is genius. I mainly use this product as my gym bag. With this pack I can pick up rope and move to a new spot quickly and with little effort. This is great when the gym is busy and climbs are scarce. It easily carries my 40m rope and the rest of my climbing gear with room plenty of extra room. I am sure that one could get a 70m rope and a harness in one of these bags.

I only wish that this bag had an additional pocket or two for valuables and water bottles.

    Best Rope Bag I've Owned

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've had a few rope bags, most of them being the standard, single sling type, and I have always found them cumbersome and difficult to haul. However, this rope bag is a fantastic new twist on the type.

First off, it has two removable straps which are comfortable enough for hauling a standard 60m rope, and don't get in the way when placing it into another pack. The pack and mat material are rugged but still relatively light.

The design is great and easy to use. It makes it easy to remove, use, and store your rope without damaging it in the soil/rocks at the base of a climb. It also makes for a good followers pack so you can keep your total weight light when on a route with a long approach and/or multiple pitches.

All in all, this is an exceptional rope bag for all types of climbing. Highly recommended.
